Did anyone else's account get closed?
Anyone know a reason why? don't tell me third party mumbo jumbo. It was my zealot ooooh look out. he clicks fasterrrrr
I checked my other accounts and they were fine. BUT so was my Zealot, yesterday.
It'd suck if all my accounts got closed.
Never modded never botted. I have a glidewrap that was
linked to the forum. trusted and such. Could this be the culprit? though I don't use it, haven't needed it since the compatibility patch.
(I suppose a glidewrap is a mod, but that is acceptable.)
was it because the robots are taking our jobs? and being shitty at it?
What's the deal here!?
An Update: My TicketAccount Name: Bilk
Realm: USWest
This morning I logged into my account, or tried to, only to be greeted with a pop up:
Login Error
Your account has been closed (8)
What does this mean? I looked it up. I had to, there was no additional information.
(8) This account was detected using a third-party program (hack) with one of our games on Battle.net. This account is now permanently banned
Any third-party program that is designed to affect the way the user interacts with Battle.net is considered a hack program. This includes seemingly harmless third-party utilities that work with the game to provide functions that were not included by the game designers. While many of these utilities might not have been created to disrupt the balance of the game, they alter the original design of the program. The detection of any such program by Battle.net may result in the closure of the user's account or even the temporary or permanent banning of the associated CD-Key.
This was a wrongful termination.
What happened here?
I need more details.
How can I avoid this in the future? Was this my fault? I don't believe so.
Is there another program that is too similar to a third-party bot program? Skype? Paint? Steam? (I obviously have no idea how things work)
I don't bot or anything like that, I once
downloaded a glidewrap that was
linked to this forum, and is still
supported by Diablo II (I Read this in the "Show Details" tab after the patch was completed) though, I haven't needed to use it since the compatibility patch. I also read that the glidewrap was fine for multiplayer use in here:

Does this get you banned in multiplayer? I just reinstalled Diablo 2 today and I am curious if the resolution can legitimately be improved to how it used to be in the old days
You may use it in Multiplayer. Have fun slaying demons.

This is was 11th post.
This issue doesn't seem unique to just me.
Miscellaneous information:
I log in and out of accounts to mule, transfer, and, trade items.
I bought diablo II and it's expansion digitally through Battle.Net.
I had a physical copy, but I had to delete it after Diablo II LoD had some troubles patching, after I deleted it I couldn't find those damn discs. So, I was suckered into buying digital copies. haha.
Maybe this might narrow down the issue? I don't know.

An update: The response. Guinnothach
Hey there,
Thank you for contacting us today

My name is Game Master Guinnothach and I am here to
assist you with your
Diablo II account.
We are pretty limited on what we can see because our legacy games are pretty old and are no longer compatible with our upgraded support systems. However,
I was able to verify that the lock is not on your IP or your CD Key. This means that the lock is on your
actual account.
While it's not ideal, it's probably the best one that you can get because you can still use the keys that you have.
We don't have insight into what caused your account to be banned, unfortunately :/ I know that would help you a lot more in the situation and I wish I had that information to give.
What I can tell you though is that in order to play again, you just need to create a new account but you can still use these keys. If you don't have them written down, you can find them in your Order History on Battle.net! This does mean that you'll need to
start over from scratch though :/
If you want, you can provide us with the account name that you use to login with and we can doublecheck that this is the case.
Again, it will just be a "yes/no", we won't have more detail into WHY this happened.
Thank you for your understanding. I hope that you have a good rest of your weekend.
Today.
An Update: Another ticket submitted."If you want, you can provide us with the account name that you use to login with and we can doublecheck that this is the case. Again, it will just be a "yes/no", we won't have more detail into WHY this happened."
The banned account? (it's Bilk@USWest Diablo II LoD.)
or a newly created account?
I can't build a new character/account until I know what caused this, it'd be another
waste of time if I created another account only to have
that account closed.
This issue isn't resolved, I submitted a ticket to "
appeal" the ban, and find the
reasoning behind it.
What would result in account closure?
What makes it different from a CD-KEY or IP ban? I can use my CD-Key, yes, I can access Bnet from my IP, yes, but
what could I have done to get a single account banned? in one day? all I was doing in that time frame was dueling, in a private game. Is the term GG derogatory or offensive? it means good game. FYI.
Could you provide me with a few reasons why the account
MIGHT have been banned?
Zealot vs Zealot duels tend to last about 10 seconds give or take. Every time, before you initiate the duel, you say "Go" or "G", this let's the player know you are ready to begin, after the duel is completed you say "GG".
Could it be possible this sort of etiquette is what caused the ban?
flagged as spam?
Sorry if this feels like a
waste of time to you, but this is, what? a few
minutes of your time? a couple
days maybe? and it's
not charity. My account was closed, a level 99 Paladin, a
Zealot, one of the most
grueling and demanding characters to own, I don't even want to think about the time I put into that Paladin, yet, so far all I'm taking away from this is. "
Your account was closed for no real reason, sorry. Better luck next time!"
but all I got was:SOMETHING WENT WRONG ON OUR END
An error has occurred. This may be a temporary error, so please try again later. an error preventing me from submitting my ticket. ah. better luck next time.
