If I could alter one thing,
I know what it would be:
Go back in time and change my mind,
And make her fall for me.
An awkward teen, I fumbled love,
And time stopped for a while,
Fascinated by her words,
And swept up in her style.
And even though, now years have passed,
I can't recall her face,
I think of her as beautiful;
Perfection lost in space.
So if she tore my world apart,
I'd thank her for the chance,
To try again in memory;
To savour every glance.
...
But maybe if I went back now,
To capture what I'd missed,
I'd find that face I thought I saw,
Never did exist.
