•Zeal was very popular in .08 when this game was somewhat more popular, however, many fanatics and old school players are still at it today and are much more knowledgeable than before, besides Conan.
•Every true zealer knows how much thinking actually goes into zealing, which is why it takes so much time to figure out your setups.
Many people laugh at zealing for the reason being that all u do in go into inner with opponent and just click.. but zeal is a LOT more than that.
Zealers have to know their chars, they have to take note of their opponents chars, and know which setups can possibly overcome their opponents, which means KNOWING your own setups and knowing what its capable of
•I have decided to make a zeal guide to help new zealers who may have some questions or need basic help, i am in no way pretending to know it all. i am just gonna post this to help some people who may want to start zealing.
█Basic / should know info█
Before a Zeal match each zealot must square off and type !g so that it shows above their head, at that time both zealers may attack. Zealers should both be WALKING not running. Running is considered BM and may also cause misclicks. (MC = clicking past opponent or moving while engaged that may interfere with match results)
■It is important to always have a REF while zealing in matters that are important (Tournaments) Ref's can be the judge of someone who may MC and decide whether or not the match should be continued. Also ref's gear check and determine whether each zealot is wearing proper attire that is GM for that specific tourny or event.
There are many different types of builds zealers use while dueling.
Here is some basic builds people will focus on.
►High AR builds
►High Defence builds
►High Damage builds
►High Life builds
Along with knowing your builds, there are other things to focus on that are important such as (( FHR, Dr, and -def )) these can very well be the determining factor on winning and losing a duel
█SKILLS█
max zeal / fanaticism / holy sheild / defiance first
then sacrifice( gives 12%ed per point )
•Others may disagree and do defiance last but in my opinion and experience dmg can always be added by diff weapons, where in a tourney most armor's will be the only ones used. such as zbug fort and prudence. therefor defence among other zealers (since most will be wearing the same armor) will be almost the same for that event. But sometimes that may not be the case so whatever build you will want to use, max the skill that suits your zealer best.
•If higher level 96+ then put stats in Blessed aim (5%ar per level) after everything else is max'd
•FHR is a big thing when zealing against an opponent. Your FHR will determine the rate at which your zealot will recover from a hit.
the faster your char recovers from a hit, the faster he can give a hit. simple.
☼Here is a chart so you can see the different FHR frames for a paladin. its good to atleast try to hit 48 in each build, but note that FHR is not the main factor in winning duels.

•In my experience in zealing ( around 6 years or more ) iv come to realize that ft7 or ft10 or tournaments in fact do not declare anyone a better zealer..
the results in a tournament are basically based on luck for the most part, and with a rematch im sure it would be proven (although would not happen in a tourney)
▀ i have done multiple testings where me and a friend are same level, same state, and same gear. the scores never kept the same
▀ Here are 2 of many testings i have done along with the setup used. ( February 16, 2010 )
Level 97 paladin (all stats and skills the same along with all skill quests/stats/potion quests done)

Again. I would of been the winner of this (best of 3) i 3-0'd him, yet Sean was the better zealer.
These results would of been much different if Sean was to use different inventory or setup. an inventory can change a Zealer completely.
◘ I also am not saying this is how all the results will be. i am not saying someone cant completely 10-0 or 7-0 someone everytime, although highly unlikely. but it may and possibly can happen. I am just showing the results i have come up with and i have done more of these testings and they have all been pretty similar with diff winners almost each time.

Like i try to tell people all the time. Zeal is luck and there are no guarantees on the % dmg you hit or % u even hit at all.
Every setup will hits min hits.. along with max hits. there are matches where some never hit max hits.. or where your zealer only lands a hit that does 100dmg before your dead. its chance to hit and how lucky of a % of dmg u get out of it. simple as that.
Every setup can be overcome completely though. but for the most part if the setups are close and both strong then there can be huge variety of outcomes
