Recently a situation came up that I needed to handle, and it reminded me of another.
The other I want to tell you about.
Long time ago I was about to graduate college. One day I arrived at campus on a first day of the semester. Construction was going on in the parking lot, and I had never been to it before. All of the signs that instruct everyone where to park had been removed. I unknowingly parked in a faculty spot. The parking services department's infrastructure meant to help me find a spot was removed, by the parking services department.
After class, and upon returning to my truck,,... Yup a ticket! So I called the p.s.d. and explained. I was told to pay the ticket and go away (basically). I took pictures, and went to the p.s.d. and spoke to the director. His name was Chip.
Chip decided to be an obstanent jerk and refuse to hear me out. So I told him I knew how to handle it and I left.
Two days later I had class again. I brought with me the 25 doll hairs in pennies. 2,500 in a bag, unrolled. Of course I was met with opposition when I arrived to pay the ticket.
Make a long story short. Both the cashier and Chip had to listen to me explain the coinage act of 1968.
"You brought your pennies to try to prove some point" .
"No, I'm being extorted. I made certain that the individuals extorting me don't benefit. You will have to pay an employee to count this out, or go find a machine to do it for her. Either way you failed and I have succeeded. This is because you can not refuse any form of u.s. legal tender to pay a debit, since your college takes money from the government. (Coinage act)
"Take your pennies and go to class"
I didn't pay the ticket.
I want to point out I had previously paid two tickets that were my fault, but I didn't pay this one.
My degree is in advertising my minor is marketing. My final project of college was to redesign the marketing of a service. Guess what I chose.
My presentation was the only one to ever receive a 100. My professors asked that I come back and re-present in front of the faculty board meeting. She and other had a vendetta against Chip.
I said "no, I'm done with it." You see I got all the revenge I needed. I took from Chip the time he took from me, and ...
Most importantly, I left him knowing that I feel like I won. That I got the better of him. And that's just the best
Oh and I almost forgot. Yeah I got what I wanted in the recent one to. Ha
