Spears are just as viable as they have ever been and the weapon sets required havent changed EVER so your point about which classes use what is pretty redundant considering its always been that way. The only difference in the market is less demand and that isnt just spears but literally everything. Just admit you were trying to snag a stupidly good deal by blaming a shitty economy. Also you would be surprised how many people buy shit on this game just for the "fun to have them". I built one of the best Polearm sets on HC before quitting for nothing more than something to do. Polearms are even less useful than spears and that didnt stop me and guess what.... when I quit the entire set was sold to McClain and he went and bought the improvements that existed simply to enjoy having a unique set.
TL:DR - Your view of spear value is nothing more than the usual trolling.
