i'm a newer player and id like to try out a Healer char until i unlock paladin, need opinions and a brief guide or advice on stats/skills/gear?

Neither, when new, never go healing. Healers who play alot don't like it

However to answer your question, if you are looking to join others I think a weak magician healer is better than none at all

If you are looking to play solo or by yourself I would suggest the guardian since he’s a little tankier.

But like knockout says you will be better off starting with a rogue or barbarian instead.

Why till you unlock paladin?

Samurai is first unlock and is terrible at casting

I would I'm general suggest to use same level 50/55 weapon for both classes if you intend to use each class as you unlock them

So this would either be a rogue with daggers where you stat vita to 100-120 ASAP then rest into dex
Or barb with swords and stat vita to 100-120 then rest into strength


If you want to cast/heal just note it won't help you on your next class, especially if you went with guardian
So you would be better off not using samurai or any further class should you go down this route.

Would recommend mage over the guardian even for solo, as the guardians damage output is basically non existent so difficult to make progress. At least mage does a lot of damage

In short if you want to heal for fun, use mage.
If you want to make progress in unlocking new classes use barb or rogue

Sorry to “Rex” the thread, but it’ll be cheaper to set up a guardian healer and as a pure healer it will be more effective.

nope, i'm expecting him to solo and to realise how garbage using a 50ee club with 30 strength is. Which is what you agreed is terrible. If he stats strength then he gets weaker heals and would struggle to keep up with mob damage at 55+

Mage is a better option for his style of play which appears to be solo'ing and joining public group if they become available.
Mage is better if he decides to join the 1-MQ groups

The only instance Guardian is better is when you have a group of 4 well equipped players and the guardian tanks and provides some of the heals, unless the guardian is using a 180+ non wild heal i wouldnt recommend they are the only healer in the group as 75+ will get a bit hairy.
Guardian would also be better for prof heal spam seeing multiheal is blue, however this is literally a nuisance for the rest of the group as it's basically -1 damage dealer as usually the healer outputs a pretty reasonable amount of damage.

i'm at lvl 34 samurai, and paladin is a tank/healer class

To unlock paladin you have to pass the master quest as a samurai, so playing a mage or guardian will not allow you to unlock paladin
