Greetings all,

I'm fairly new, learning the ropes, and had a few questions about the variable gains when doing professions.

How is proficiency calculated per instance? i.e. -- When I fish it does not seem to correspond to number of clicks or the type of fish I catch. It just seems mostly random. Overall, it appears that if I have more clicks then there are proportionally more +prof added. Also, overall it appears that when there is a speed boost event I get less +prof per instance.

How is experience calculated per instance? i.e. -- When I fish does it correspond with number of clicks? Does it correspond with the rarity of the catch?

What is the effect of gear on these gains? i.e. -- If I wear XP gain gear, do I get more XP per fish / per cook / etc.? If I were ML gear does the result of the fish or mute or glyph improve?

Many thanks for any and all info.

No one knows.

Or if they do, maybe they can explain this.

Very next fish.

So the proficiency difference here I can understand. The XP gain variance is significant, inconsistent, and if anything, the opposite of what I would expect.

Alot of times, none of it makes any sense.

Looks like more Prof because you got a Herring, the other two instances the prof gain is either 7 or 8 for Sardines

As for the Experience gain, it is only for your character level.

Not sure what the XP explanation means. These are three back to back fish.

Overall, I’m mostly curious whether XP gain gear factors on fishing/cooking? It is really hard to math it myself when the variance is so significant and doesn’t seem to have correlatives.

From what I've noticed, type of fish doesn't play into the amount of prof. I've had sardines take forever to catch and get high prof. And then some higher tiers not get near as much. What I was pointing out was the difference in the xp gains.

all i know is that during 'faster' events, faster transmute or any other prof, you get less exp per item... kinda evens out for exp/h tho i guess cause faster =more items/hour

absolutely nothing to do with the type of fish you catch.

If you are fishing/cooking something equal to or higher than your prof suggested, then you have in the region of a 60% chance per click to gain prof.
I have never ever seen more prof gained than the number of clicks
There's certainly a huge correlation between the number of clicks and the amount of prof gained though.

I care too little about the xp gains that i've never tracked that side of things
