Good afternoon fellow slashers,

I've just gotten into LS in the last 3-4 weeks. Best game ever IMO. Plan to play it until I IRL die.

One problem I foresee coming is carpal tunnel / stress inflammation in my fingers from professions. I'm a former musician of 18 years, and my digits can't take too much of the same thing.
That said, I love fishing and cooking.

I was about to head over to the accessibility controls in Windows, and bind my left click to a keyboard key, and activate the ease of access mouse functions for moving the mouse with the keyboard...
Then I thought, I better make sure this is allowed. Obviously it is not botting. And obviously it would tremendously relieve the repetitive injury problems (because I would rotate between using just mouse, and then variations of mouse and keyboard, so my hand/fingers have different movements).

Any thoughts / suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

If anyone gets banned for using keys instead of a mouse, the whole game should be shut down.

Would love to get a firm yes on this being allowed because that’s a cool idea. Kevin, can you weigh in on this plz?

Edit: also, not Kevin, but could someone else tell me how to “bind” a key if this turns out to be above board?

I don't see how this would help your fingers
Instead of using 1 finger to press the left mouse button, you'll use 1 finger to press a key and 2 more to move the mouse?
Or move your mouse with your mouse but left click from your keyboard?

These responses from experienced players are re-assuring, thank you.

I would guess that you don't experience repetitive stress injuries. The main problem is doing the same motion over and over. On a keyboard-mouse combo, I can rotate which finger hits the key button, and move my hand into different positions constantly. With a mouse click, my hand is in the same position always (think that slightly curved cupped position of a hand over a mouse). And, it is very strange to try to use a different finger other than the right pointer finger, which is the one that very quickly starts giving me trouble. As soon as it starts hurting, it's all over.

And yes, I don't plan to do anything differently until I get some reasonable sense of confirmation. I would assume that something like an AHK (which would bind like, the fish button to one keyboard key, and the snag button to another) would be unacceptable. Though, being able to use just a keyboard and not have my hand in the mouse-hold position would be additionally helpful. :)

But, I'm holding out hope that using the built-in Windows 10 functions to bind the left mouse click to the numpad 5 (in the accessibility settings) would be permissible.

I use a laptop/touchpad, so instead of using the front if the touch pad, which is super worn from LS, I could use a key.

I would assume it's fine since you aren't running a bot/macro, but would want you to get official clarification of course.

Can totally relate, mouse gets me cramped up if I work too long with one, so I can see the reasons.

Playing on mobile myself, but that also has your hands in a semi fixed position and isn't a good long term solution.

E: getting old sucks.
