I decided to start fishing and had a fairly easy time getting ranks, however, once I reached rank 7 I have been having issues with fish escaping the line. I will note escaping the line happened at all ranks but once I hit 7 its every 10 fish it feels. (I don't know the actual rate it has been but it's been so annoying I had to make this post). So the question is: the higher prof you have the more chance it has to escape? I will also note for the most part I am hitting the correct action (reel/snag)

Here are the things I've tried but all yield the same result-

Switching fish level - currently 8 is default but I have switched to other levels
Switching rod - tried lvl 5, lvl 10, lvl 15 with and without dura
Switched from phone to computer - thought maybe I was hitting the release button on accident when on phone

Doesnt increase the escaping fish but might want to try a rod closer to your level and same with tier fish.

Dura always helps.

Good to know it doesn't increase - I had an elm fishing rod Skill Rank Req: 10 with dura but it was still doing the same thing (tried fishing level 8 and level 10) so I don't know maybe just ran into a bad couple hundred streak I'll start keeping track more thoroughly and see if I'm just crazy

That rod should work fine though.

I'm not sure, but it feels like it happens more often if you fish at higher levels than your default

The reason could be the higher levels themselves or changing your default to higher, don't know exactly

Agreed. Mostly just fish at my default unless faster fishing events.
