I understand that they increase monster difficulty, but are they worth it?
At higher levels I typically leave when I hit a trapdoor and reset the maze because I’m not killing stuff as easily. But at lower levels if I kill stuff slightly slower but still decently fast is there really any added benefit? Seems like the experience gain increase — if there is one — is negligible. Thanks for any and all input!

Also, why isn’t there a search bar in here like there is on trade forums…?

It's not actually increase in MD, it's just an increase in level. The reason why it's slower is because they are a higher level then you which means a couple extra stars in HP and def, etc.

There is a substantial increase in exp as you are always Killing monsters higher than you vs 33% Lower than you

There is a decrease in drop quantity and probably quality as well since you are killing monsters that are higher then your level.

The best drops come from mobs exactly your level.

I didn’t know that about the drop rate — seems kinda silly to not just reset the map then. Thanks for the info!

Hypothetically, there should be an increase, but there was a change to the game way back to the drop rate calculator, and that changed ended up punishing level difference.

Ergo, worse drops from going down tds. Even though I think everyone would agree it should be the opposite.

When the big rewrite happened and among other things groups were permitted to be open to a wide range of levels without bridge exploits, changes were made to the way XP is distributed & drops are determined presumably to prevent both power-leveling & farming.
The changes killed the usefulness of XP gear that formerly drivers had full sets of. Also heavy weapons got a huge nerf with their cooldowns not resetting each new wave. (They have since been buffed w/ a slight reduction in cooldown but still are a poor choice in well geared & actively clicking groups).
At one point Paul was open to the possibility of changing TD's to buff MD rather than boosting level. This would be a great change as soloer's or groups that wanted the challenge could seek it out and while spending more time have greater chance of good reward, but no one would be forced to face the greater MD like with events.
