It's probably me that's retarded but I can't get no fish in this game. Read the guides and tried to do everything, can't get me some fish. Is missing the rod making a great difference?

Looks like you haven't tried that hard. I used the -provided- fishing rod until level 3.

Click reel, and then click snag when the snag alert pops up.

Don't spam cluck either. Just go one for one with the fish.
Like Pokémon. Turn based if that makes sense lol. Otherwise you'll miss the snag counters

never spam click, start fishing click reel once, then the top red bar will go down some, click reel again, red bar goes down, reel, if snag comes up instead of reel you press snag. youll get the beat fast enough

Loaner rod is absolutely awful.

even a random tier 1 with no durability makes fishing about 3 times easier. Using a 25 durability one will make it about 10 times easier.

Everyone answered your question to 99% degree.

Turn Based = 1 sec delay.

This means you have to react within that 1 second (do NOT spam)

This also means, you can use a Loan Rod and successfully fish, the difference is that when you click successfully, you don't get a HIGH reading on the bar for "REEL", thus it takes longer to successfully REEL in a fish.

As stated, using a White Rod (not a loaner), you get a little bit more reward (pixels on the bar), using a Rod with Durability (25 MAXIMUM per Tier.. Tier I = 25 max, Tier II = 50 max, Tier III = 75 max etc) the more pixels on the bar, and also Snag bar increases.

Hope this makes sense... Turn Based = 1 sec delay and not spam clicking either Reel or Snag. NOTE: Lag can stuff this up.

EDIT: This also applies with cooking, and to be honest, you should ALWAYS cook your fish stacks so that your cooking Rank doesn't become useless. (cook all your fish you caught)
