Hi all,

Couldn't find any answers regarding this:

Can someone please explain the Skill rank req mechanics?
IE. I have Fishing prof rank 1, I have 3 different fishing rods that are not Red;

oak fishing rod
Skill Rank Req: 15

elm fishing rod
Skill Rank Req: 10

Magical ironwood fishing rod
Skill Rank Req: 20

+14 Durability

I can use the Elm fishing rod to fish, but when I try to use either of the others it just won't let me.
No obvious correlation between prof or character level, hoping someone can help explain

On a similar note, with transmuting. I recently was told how to transmute, and I've played with it and have 50x Magical essence I - I have tried multiple items to transmute with different roman numerals, and different quality levels with no luck. No frame of reference on what ought to work, am I stuck transmuting random tier 1 magical items until rank1 prof? How do I get to being able to mute lvl 55 items?

I appreciate any info and apologize in advance if I missed any previous guides, I did try looking.

For the fishing:

Every 5 ranks you can use 1 tier higher. Think of it like levelling up.
At level 1 you can use tier 1,2 and 3.
With fishing at prof 0 you can use tier 1,2 and 3.

At level/prof 5, you can increase by 1 and every 5 levels thereon allows 1 tier higher rod to be used.

To be honest i would personally use a tier 1 rod to fish level 1 fish anyway as it's faster than using a higher tier rod, then move to an elm rod at prof 1 or 2 and try and catch level 5 fish.

Is it different for other proffs as well? I think I used an essence lvl 5 when I was lvl 3 in transmuting

Melee / Casting (including healing) gains are from 0-10 (10 being maximum) per action per wave (wave = Monsters Spawned during the next step in the catacomb)

Skills like fishing, muting etc give you higher Prof points on success, you can see this when you have completed the task successfully... I think it was like 1-60 prof gain muting a Tier I item when starting out, again, this may differ during certain events.

Oh, during an event with +X% Muting Experience = character experience, not Prof gain.

It differs for every skill. Just check what your minimum to skill up recommends and test to see how much prof you are getting for a few rarities above the recommended and adjust accordingly imo (this goes for glyphing/muting/suffering should have specified sorry). Cooking you just have to go with what it recommends or a tier below until it starts to get "too easy" and the prof gain becomes utter shit or you can go a tier up and bite the bullet and not 100% cook your fish (unless there is a faster cooking event that allows you to cook a tier up). I am sure some nerd made a chart for recommended skillables for each level, but I cannot be fucked to find it. Glyphing is the least forgiving, while muting is the most forgiving in that you can get away with skilling items much higher than your recommended. Also, for muting you can use any level essences to roll stats on items despite your prof level or lack of and this is why you were able to use lvl 5 essences while your muting prof was at 3.
