I hear all how casting is the best way to solo high levels, what point does it become better than using a 200 EE melee with gear that gives +95 to main stat?

I have comparable gear for off casting besides the high ee charm.

Is it just something I need to try out to get a feel for?

casting crits alot more

the main benefits are the boosted heals + higher avg becasue of crit

i would assume casting gets better with like 180+ ee and 90 stat gear

but than again it all depends on classes, monk with good gear ( and vita+abit int ) is probably faster even on higher lvls than any off-caster, same goes for samu

pala / ninja should be better agian, since abiliities on both arent the best for solo


casting on off classes sucks solo, and that says someone with one of the better off casting gear around^^

When i get data on crits for my damage calc, you would be able to dump the information straight into the calc to get that answer.
Can't really just ignore crit as caster crits is about 15-30% of the time depending on your intel.


For solo i preferred offcasting monk/ninja as level 70+ with robes felt really bad for me, even with 200+ ee daggers. 0-20 was dead easy to solo with melee when statting all intel, just use a heal charm as needed. Change to offcast either at level 20/25/30 depending on how good your offcast gear is.
Would suggest you need an absolute minimum of 180ee charm after prof. ideally 200 + prof.


arguably, the headhunter is always stronger to go melee than it is to offcast if you have similar gear for both. Seeing a lot of dual stat gear exists with over 70 total stats. Also starts with significantly higher strength/dexterity than any other class. 130 compared to 110 on ninja is a big difference.

Offcasting sucks low lvls, but easy to regen and heal urself high lvls, I did it cuz group climbs usually never have a healer

Offcasting is horrible on every class if you solo with it until lvl 55+ and only if you have good casting gear and bad melee gear.

You run OOM all the time at lower lvls regardless. If you have similar gear for casting + melee at all lvls, then melee is better on every class until lvl 55+, at which point they become even imo.

Offcasting only becomes better around lvl 70 when you start taking too much dmg and need to heal yourself, but you've lost time from 0-45/55 and your overall time shouldn't be very different

The best class to do it on is ninja because you can't tank, don't have blue doublestrike and you need lvl 79

It works great for groups, but not for solo, you'd need +50 ee on your casting gear compared to melee for it to be worth it imo

In good groups. In bad groups it’s not fun and requires good fish.

If you off cast in groups you better have the mana gear or fish, nobody wants you idling OOM for 40% of each level

Agree a lot with this. Tbh in group climbs you either need really good mana/int gear or I would even say an amazing group to need not to use fish (or you will be useless). I have decent offcast gear and if you aren’t an elite group it either requires lots of fish or u don’t damage half the time. It is the worst lol. Hate offcasting groups.

I don’t agree with a lot of the comments about solo in here tho. I prefer offcasting solo by a wide margin. I do agree the first 30ish levels are slower (even much slower possibly) but you can always melee them. I find if you even have decent gear that you find enough shrines to be able to not regen (have to use the shrines you find) all the way to mq. Solo abilities are few and far between, and using double strike or double fast is both dark red until monk. Monk can solo melee quite well (monk is my fav solo char) but even still I find like 40+ just so much smoother casting. You kill stuff so much faster. Could be based on how I play (always explore) and have to afk sometimes (which really helps caster).

I also found offcasting better when I had much better and much more invested in my melee gear.
