if you play on level 55 with a level 20 weapon, do you get more profs cz you need more clicks per monster?
or is it capped?

my thinking is: how can i reach the max prof points per climb

doesnt matter wether the climb needs 2 or 16 hours

imo you loose kill/climb/loot speed

Things have changed for prof point hunting.

Simple answer is you won't get as much prof points being level 55+ using a level 20 weapon (maybe different with Heal charms, have not test that out)

I use a 20 level rule BELOW level 55 using a level 40 to 55 item.
I use a 20 level welling rule using same tier item to character level (best for using ML items)

Welling is my prof hunting solution while solo'ing. If my prof rank is like 3, and I am level 4 - 15, I will Well tier III/IV items for best prof gain, again, I can be level 20 still welling Tier III items gaining prof points, but, I would increase the white Tier to IV or V. The only problem with this, is that finding a well consistently with whites are hard enough.

So, basic solo'ing without welling, use the 20 level rule... so if you are level 55+ and want to get prof points, use a minimum Tier X (level 35) item.

In my opinion it isn't that hard to test it.
Open a new group.
Write down your prof amount.
Do 100 actions.
Check how many prof you get.

Then use another Tier weapon and repeat the progress.

But personally I think you won't get that much prof on 55 from a lvl20 club than a lvl 45 or 55 club. I didn't test it, but the optimal is should be around Your level -10 and use a 'white' club or at least in my opinion.

Are you looking to reach maximum prof per climb or per any unit of time? These two things are not necessarily the same thing.

For example:
I usually gain somewhere between 1500-1900 dagger prof per climb with my monk. Now, I can increase it to around 2700 per climb, that will however add the same amount of time that another full climb takes, so I can either do one climb for 2700 prof or two for 3000 - 3800 prof in the same amount of time

Are you including "Welling" during those climbs? If so, are you welling whites within your character level or have a ratio like mine (mine being 20 levels... or 3 tiers below current tier using)

Also, if you are welling items and not gaining prof points from your weapon or damage charm(s), you will get prof points from your healing charms, so taking damage to heal is a good option for heal profs.

Guessing you are referring to Group climbs more than Solo climbs, but that is just a guess.
