Are there different levels of catacombs? Mine just seems to be a small square with no exits or anything. Just starting and can’t find anything on google about my question. Thanks in advance.

Catacomb map sizes increase with player level. There are no “exits”, upon completion of a catacomb you receive a map drop.
But there are random trapdoors (you can fall down these and it starts a new catacomb map, but the monsters are slightly stronger.)

Once you complete a "Catacomb" you leave it and then re-enter it to reset the size of the "Catacomb".

As stated above, the size increases at higher levels.
