Is the best way for proficiency to tier up essences? What's the strategy here. I run out of essences so fast at 2 per upgrade.

Aborting still gives prof & there's 2 ways to do it. IMO

Cheap)
SLOW - Do ur minimum and try to finish the whole thing.

Expensive)
QUICK - Try to do the highest posible for ur rank (+2 tiers -1 Magical type)
Start & immediatley ABORT (insanly fast prof, but extremly expensive as u need more than double the amount of essences)
If u use ur minimum u get +1 prof, so each "next rank" thing u use = +1 prof.

So in ur case at rank 6 u get +1 prof for aborting a rare t2 as that's ur minimum unless i forgot the ranksystem ^^
if u use a angelic t2 u get +2
Arcane +3
Godly +4

etc till ur max which is = Magical t4 which would give u +10 profs from aborting. So within a few seconds u can get mass prof, but this is where it becomes really expensive.

Great advice:

So upgrade your Suff vs crap items like Sardines with 50 + life or mana etc... organise it so you are more proficient with suffing with fish with 70+ life / mana.

Hope you get this, increase your skill (rank) with junk items to improve your Suffing skill.

EDIT: Improve your ranks in Suff with junk items so you will be at a rank in Suff that will give you 100% success at least.

To add to what Niclas already said:

You can also use essences with -2 stats of your minimum at more or less the same prof as your minimum. At -3 it drops to less than half so you really want to avoid those unless you get desperate.

There is also an in-between option to the expensive/fast method. It's still expensive, but it's not as expensive as you are able to squeeze out a little bit more prof per essence. I haven't fully tested it yet as it was just an idea that I played around with, it does seem pretty promising though. It's a lot slower than that method, but far more efficient, it really comes down to what you want. So basically what you want to do is to suffusence fish of +1 or +2 tiers of your min. Instead of aborting them immediately, you want to wait for at least 4 prompts to suffuse or extract to pop up and then abort. If you keep getting them, just keep going until they stop and then hit abort. That will allow you to gain up to 8 prof for +1 tier and 17 for +2(magical t4/t5 when my min is t3 angelic). These are the amounts that I got when I tested it today, your mileage may vary as I didn't do any massive tests on it.
