Hey guys I just had an interesting idea that you'll probably all hate.

I was thinking about Path of Exile and the ability to "corrupt" items giving them a chance to obtain useful stats, or to disappear.

What about something like this for Ladder Slasher?

What if we had a "corruption chamber" where we can pay FG to corrupt an item, potentially changing it's base type.

Normal weapons would only be able to change to other normal weapons
Heavy weapons would only be able to change to other heavy weapons
Armors would only be able to change to other armors
Damage charms would only be able to change to other damage charms
Heal charms would only be able to change to other heal charms

In my head it would go something like this:

Cost:

10 fg/ee
40 fg/stat

So for example if you have a staff with 234 ee and 20 dex it would cost 3,140 fg to corrupt this and potentially change it's base type

As far as the chance here's what I'm thinking:

Equal chance to change to any base type OR disappear. For example if you are corrupting a wild heal charm it would have 25% chance to remain wild heal, 25% chance to turn to focused heal, 25% chance to turn to regular heal, and 25% chance to completely disappear. Same thing with weapons or armors, with obviously lower chance because there are more potential outcomes.

Once you "corrupted" an item you would no longer be able to corrupt that item again, It would be a corrupted item, retain it's stats but no longer able to corrupt.

Why?

-FG sink
-Potentially open up the market a bit, making certain base types slightly more valuable for those wishing to gamble (i'm looking at you essence buyers)
-Potentially make the more desired bases more easily obtainable, making finding the gear you want slightly easier

Just a random idea I had. If you guys hate it, let me know, or if Paul/Kevin sees this and hates it feel free to close the topic.

Thoughts?

Any questions and I can clear up any confusion (maybe)

Voted hell no. It makes a lot of sense for this mechanic to exist in poe with how you can pretty much always change the properties of your item by adding/removing/re-rolling the stats of an item and when you are finally done, you can choose to yolo the hell out of it for a tiny chance to hit the jackpot (or get completely owned).

This is nothing but a way to turn your 250ee robe into something more useful like a scale(that can’t be corrupted again because we would totally do it again) :P

Gieb exalts though :D

This is precisely why I added the chance to disappear :D

I do however understand what you mean and where you’re coming from and appreciate the feedback :)

Thought it might be cool to make it so some drops weren’t completely useless to obtain but I understand the reasoning for wanting to keep high tier items nearly impossible to achieve :D

Chance to change the item base would always be a no from me. If you start off with a robe, it should always be re-rolled into a robe.

If it was something like 33.33% chance that you lose it, gain +3 random mods or it gets re-rolled to a complete different item of the same base, then maybe. Still not sure if it’s needed for LS, that would be a lot more balanced than being able to turn your fail drops into 500k drops

Understand the concept, don't agree it is viable for Ladder Slasher.

If you are willing to Risk and spend 3k forum gold to possibly roll a better based item, or have it completely disappear, you may as well just use the FG to purchase the item you are after without Risk.

So Null Vote for now.

Some such items dont exist/will never drop in LS.

Voted no anyway.

Master plan goes like this:

Step 1:
Buy all the high ee “robes,” chains, plates, wild heals, and clubs in the game.

Step 2:
Make this suggestion.

It looks like you’re on step 2. Does that mean you finished step 1?
