Hey guys I have a few questions about fishing rods
1: I have never found a fishing rod with durability? Are they just that rare? Or can they be crafted only or something like that?
i find the best place for rods is welling side drops/EPs, if you well a solid 50-80 items, should get at least 1.

2: My rod keeps breaking. Am I doing something wrong? I try to abort fishing when rod is low life but still sometimes they break. Is that normal?
Thanks everybody
Seems like an easy game but still some things are a bit confusing
I havent broken a rod since like rank 3. You "should" be able to get a reel in before the fish moves your rod meter. Should also be able to have a huge 0.5-1 sec window where you can see whether or not the fish snagged and you will get the next click in first, so click snag counter if snag, click reel if not.
I can always get the first 2 clicks in no issue, however the third click i use the waiting method
Basically wait until the rod durability moves, the exact moment it moves is also when it shows Snag or not. Obviously click snag counter if it shows snag and click reel if it does not.
Continue this approach of waiting for the rod durability to move before choosing which button until the fish is caught.
If you're catching fish 1 level above your prof level (the standard setting, you can choose higher/lower) this should never fail.

Not sure about the second question though. Does that mean that my rod will always break at some point? Dura just lengthen this process? Or am I doing something wrong?
Rods do not lose durability/snap unless you allow the fish to lower rod bar to zero.
Interestingly, the more durability a rod has, the slower it is to catch the fish.
Although it significantly reduces the amount the rod bar goes down.
However if you're trying to catch a tonne of fish fast, i suggest using lower durability rods for fish 1 level above your prof level. If its a 20% or better faster fishing event, 3-4 levels higher can also be doable with crap rods.
In terms of which rod you should be using:
Prof 0-1: Splintered rods
Prof 2-5: Pine rods
6-9: Elm rods
10-14, 15-20,21-24 follow the same pattern.
Using 1 rod back from my "recommended" list should also be fine, so using a pine at level 6-9 should still work pretty well and be faster than using elm.
Should always avoid using no rod, the difficulty is significantly harder.
Here's the fishing guide i used, although it's perhaps a little more complicated than i would like:
