Hey friends,

I just got back into Diablo after a few decades and found my way to jsp. Of course, I got curious and started reading all about ladder slasher and now I have my first character, a lvl 20 barbarian. The problem is, it's a bit boring with no one to ladder slash with as I learn my way around the game. Is there a clan or group that does the catacombs together? Or did I start too late with not many people playing.

There are plenty of clans and accepting new players. However, this is a game that takes TIME and forum gold (although it is very possible to lvl to 71 without paying anything or selling off what you find and using that fg to purchase better items).

Also, most group climbs won’t let you in unless you have decent gear and help the team out.

If this game bores you already at lvl 20 you will definitely struggle at 40 or higher. Choose another easier game - like FarmVille or Harry Potter years 1-4. I know, I’m a sarcastic asshole.

Now if you’re interested in the only game (that I know of) that is playable on a mobile device, that can give you a single item worth over 100k fg (yup you gotta be super duper lucky of course) then I highly recommend you read up a little about this game in the character builds and discussions forum and of course to ask around. Don’t be shy. We have ALL been in your place once upon a time.

Thanks for the tough love friend. I didn't mean bored of the game at level 20, I meant bored of being by myself running the catacombs--I'm a social grinder and don't mind pouring in the hours if I can do it with like-minded friends in a group ideally. But I understand--will keep reading and learning since it seems like ladder slasher has a very dedicated and well-established population of seasoned pros like yourself. Hopefully in time i'll join you all. All the best!

There are like minded people like yourself as well as those that either do both (solo / group runs). Just the usual get yourself out there and recognised a bit more, don't forget to post in catacombs section that you are online and would like to join a group run... maybe even post in Catacomb threads... that will help with joining more people for group runs etc.

Like I said before. Groups exist but they are tough to find/get into especially because you are new.

A lot of these runs are usually guilds that do 1-101 bursts that they knock out within a few hours. But they start at lvl 1. So look for runs at lvl 1 and see if they have space for you to join them. You might get lucky and get a “free ride” to 71 and higher.

Another option is to see who is online at your lvl and see if they want to join you. A lot of people, myself included, LIKE to solo because I don’t have to fight over the drops.

Also, you’ll find that most people on here don’t really care if you stick around or drop out at lvl 20,30,40 whatever. You’re not the first, you’re not the last. So if you’re hoping for sympathy over your lvl 20 struggles, you won’t find it here. If you’re looking for help or advice to get you through the grind, well we all have plenty of that to give.

Edit: I looked over your gear. Get a weapon with 100 ee or better (you can find these for dirt cheap on the weekend), armor with 100 ee or better (chains are cheaper than scale and will provide better protection than a lower ee scale would), and try to find a 30 strength (or better) charm.

Your barbarian stats should be mostly strength with a few points put into vitality.

Thanks for the heads up friend, no sympathy here just dipping my toe into the ladder slasher ocean and seeing if I should cannon ball in. I will take the advice given and try to make a go of it. Thanks!
