I would argue a "Death Mage" where you constantly remain at a fixed level (usually 55 or 60).
We call it a death mage because it dies so often to mobs. can see this char has significantly more deaths than my main char:
https://forums.d2jsp.org/user.php?c=3&i=193561&p=186214Used it a little bit, didn't get much success myself.
Can use magic luck robes/daggers/staffs, so a total of 20-28 ML, without particularly compromising damage or survivability if you have decent charms.
In general pass a character until you reach paladin, this means when you die you lose more exp than if you just die as a class which hasn't passed.
Play as mage rather than pally (ofc)
Play as per normal up till 55 or 60
When you reach your level, when you reach 85-95% exp, die 5-6 times then heal back to max with heal charm and keep going.
Basically skips the levelling part from 1-55 which in general are worse drops because level 55 items can't drop (excluding EP's at around 53)
However it can be tedious so it isn't for everyone, doing it without getting to paladin means you only lose about 10% of your current exp, so need to die 10-15 times to get your exp to a sensible number which is pretty time consuming and boring given the flood control. 4-5 max is ideal.
The one thing in particular is to always explore, wells and EP's are the main sources of items. This excludes level 1-30ish as 99% of the high value drops will be at higher level items now.
If the death mage isn't for you, then cartracks barb build and swap to a ML charm at anywhere level 30+
Whistle until level 30 seeing 1-30 is fast if you're not exploring and 99% of the stuff will be crud. Either that or do 1-30 exploring just looking for a well and whistle up the rest of the way.
