i have only played melee classes slashing, i usually solo, and when i group i like to tank.

i have a lvl 55 160ee plate as mq armor... my weapon and charm are 120club and 36str charm... so after pumping enough vita to tank, i may as well keep pumping vita cause my HP is more helpful to the group than the shit damage i would be doing..

If i use a weapon and charm with mana/life/int or some combo, and a mq heal charm in acc slot... would i be able to tank and heal myself enough where the other 4/5 people could just pound the shit outa monsters and not worry about taking damage or healing me? or would there still need to be a healer that uses heal group or something.... i am very unfamiliar with caster skills or how a healer needs to be played... just trying to think of a better way to pure tank

so... if thats your jam, you should look at a character called a Guardian.

A++ tanking healer.

other then that frankly, it doesnt matter what you use at ALL. what matters is what the healer has. a standard whistle climb i would go no more then 70 Vitality because the monsters just dont hit that hard. That extra 50strength you get from stat points actually does ALOT to add damage over a full climb.

I guess I would get more info on this by asking a dif question..

Healer.... how often are they healing the tank, and how often are they healing the group (back row)? Maybe broke down pre 55 and 55+

You said other than that it don’t matter it only matter what the healer has.... can one person tank and heal without super awesome gears... and what would the setup be like

/e also.. is the healer attacking at all or just saving mana for heals?


There a lot of guides for melee stuff, but not really caster, and even less hybrid

Healers attacks too ofc and healing starts at like 60-65 + (even maybe 70 depending on the group), i mean when they heal a lot.
Usually before lvl30-35 heal not even needed then 35-55 just a bit of healing needed.
Guardian would work as a healer tank for sure

The faster stuff dies the less healing is needed. Your damage still matters too.

I know this is slightly different but my 100% intel/vita guardian did 500k compared to a top damage of about 3 mill in one climb.
However it did tank and heal everyone but i was using:
226ee level 50 club
198ee 6 crit 15% heal mastery lvl50 plate
177ee focused heal.

Ideally would have used a 40+ strength charm but my highest strength heal charm was 25 strength, so decided to just main slot the heal charm.
Could have easily gone up to level 101 simply because i had super fast charging multiheals and salvation. Think i statted 80 vit and rest int. Just be wary that as tank you're the most likely person to get stunned so if you're the only healer and you get groups of stunners you can get in trouble, although salvation should get you out of most issues.


Don't underestimate your damage as a tank. In groups with that gear i'd go for 80-90 vit depending on the healer and would still expect to deal out 700k-900k damage as tank with that sort of gear. I highly recommend putting points to strength until level 25, then heading towards your target vit value.
Going full vit doesn't really help anyone as the healer still needs to heal you as mobs deal significant amounts of damage at level 65+.
Try setting yourself a goal of not being the lowest damage, if that's too difficult, just aim to get as close to 1m+ dmg.

Interesting idea, nobody plays guardian EVER anymore. I wonder if you had nice enough gear to do all the healing while being the only one in the front row, wouldn't that be faster!?

Warlocks are significantly better healer/damagers.

The ideal group is:
1x tank
4x warlock.

the amount of damage supplied by the 4 warlocks significantly outweighs using a guardian. It's not awful but very few people have the gear to make a guardian do any damage at all whilst healing.

Arguably in a new season without warlocks, it's probably ideal, but the main idea of the game is to progress through the classes. Spamming guardian climbs isn't really doing that.

The amount of damage supplied from warlock outweighs using a guardian...... but the group still needs a tank... and one of those warlocks has to be healer, Why not use a healing tank where the 4th warlock only attacks, having one more attacking warlock outweighs any damage a tank could do right?

/e and the main idea of the game is for the user to have fun, who cares if I want to make and play guardian for group over n over if it helps not hurts the group and I having fun

your tank can still do 2+ million dmg in a climb and so can your healer, there just isnt really a need for a dedicated tank/healer that does no dmg, it's not as efficient
