Vitality gives you HP every level, right?

Does this scale off vitality gear or just your base vitality?

Would it make sense to carry around a bunch of vitality gear and put it on for your last kill each level?

To answer your question: no.

vita also boosts your physical defense.

vitality from your gear gives 0 life. only defense, this is partly why it's a horrible mod.

life is calculated as base vitality * (level +1).
You then get a few quests which add additional life, as sneaky won't apply a +life bonus from it's vitality for levels you've had before and i think bits and pieces adds 100-300.

How do I spawn these quests? I have the active objectives but I haven't been able to complete any yet. Are they just random spawn or do you need to be a certain level for them to spawn?

you will need to explore the map and it's random.
you've already managed to find bits and pieces and explore the map, obviously explore the map isn't random, but most of them are

I dont think you can get "A pinch of evil" with easy mode activated, which is on by default on your first climb (/set easy 0 will turn it off)
However with this particular event you'll probably want to keep it on


also some of the quests will require multiple people in your group. Stop the 7 shamans for example.

You can’t spawn them when you have easy mode activated. It’s enabled on your first climb.

You can turn it off by typing /set easy 0 in chat. Not a good idea during this event though

Bits give you +Dex

Hack the Horde gives u 50-100life
Slash the Swarm gives you 100-200life

Another question then, since it's my first climb:

Are maps basically just for farming gear? I ran a bunch at the start and they gave decent exp but now it seems like the monsters are as hard as catacombs but the exp is like 1% every 10 mobs.

Maps have a level cap. After you are 25 levels past the level requirement for a map, the experience gained will drop off. Certain types of maps also spawn only certain monsters
