There is a difference between prof gain and experience towards your 1-71 climb.

You always get experience on every skill that gives you prof.
Like Alex said, Prof & XP is not the same thing

This event does not give more prof, it gives more experience when you cook a fish.

Prof - something that makes you rank up faster in that certain skill you're using.
XP - To make your character level up faster.
