How do the wells work?

1. Do the stats of the item(s) matter what the level of the character is? For example, should I save all of my well items until I'm a high level? Example: I want to well an item, but I'm only 35. Would it make a difference if I welled it at 71? If I can remember, I don't think it matters....you just get more powerful monsters when welling higher tier items. I was hoping someone could confirm or deny this.

2. Is one well as good as any other? Or do the stats of the item depend on where the well was found: Example: I have a lvl 55 non-magic that I want to well. Does it matter if I put it into a well in a game created by someone who is level 5?

Most people go for a range of +-8 levels when welling
You will receive more Prof if you well higher items at a lower level.

The level the game opened is not counted when throwing the item in the well (someone correct me if I am wrong)

Well level doesn't matter, and char level doesn't matter.

Exception to the rule: Heavy Weapons should be welled 5-8 levels below their Tier level. [Level 63 well TierXIV Heavy Weapon]
Reasoning: If a HEAVY weapon has a potential to spawn with 100% ee or above, it CAN 1 hit kill you]
How I came to this conclusion: Andy (Kalms) dropped a TierXII (earth charm) while full group were level 40... he got 1 hit killed, rest of us managed to get to town but with around 10-25% hit points remaining, luckily I was last to leave as I was healer. End of story... 165% enhanced effect TierXII Earth charm was the reward [Hardcore] with help from other high level characters.

This was before update, but, when it comes to heavy weapons, just imagine what could happen.

At the end of the day, it is up to you how you want to Well your items, if I have a lot of low level items and I come across a well, I will well them at high level if I run out of higher tier items.

I always well all my items below the item level (I get way more side-drops that way)

I like to well 5-10 lvls below the lvl req of the item feels like i get better sides when i well below it.

Had to give them a real scenario that happened to explain my reasoning, and that one was the best of the best...



I have it... ... his character died, how could he get hold of it? Jokes aside, we all decided to give it to him, at some point along the way, he gave it to me.
