I am guessing you are using a character that has NOT done a Master Quest, thus you are automatically playing on "easy mode"
As stated by McDavid, use the /easy mode if you want to continue playing against 1-2 normal monsters and 1 evil presence.
The only downside to this is, once you get to level 71+, you will encounter 1-3 normal monsters and 1 evil presence (using /set easy 1),
otherwise you will encounter 1-3 evil presence.
Once you have done your first master quest attempt and you continue on with that character (passed or not), you will encounter 1-3 normal
monsters and also 1-3 evil presence.
Playing with /set easy 1 (1-2 normal / 1 evil) you will not be able to do certain objectives:
Pinch / Hack / Ambush... the first objectives you will get are Maze & Bits n Pieces... once
you level to 46+ and new catacomb, you will activate Treasure Pest, then Sneaky (normally
around level 60+ for sneaky depending on how soon you get Treasure Pest.
Monster abilities to be aware of... Slugslider (spawn more), Gigabee (spawn more 2 at a time), Freaver and other stunner, Glazier does multi
Ice attacks and the physical damage also deals cold damage. If a robed character, be cautious of Pawfulgores' QD at higher levels.
Hope this helps, I choose to have Auto-hold activated since I solo and only use heavy weapons.
