Hey guys,

I was curious if anyone ever tested the value of crit strike compared to weapon mainstat.

For example, lets say a character is using an axe. 50/50 str/dex
How many +crits the charm would have to have, to beat 30 str charm?

I was curious about mainly DPS output but maybe I should consider something else?

Anyway, I started doing some tests with 2 charms on my feeder barbarian:

#1 charm: 7 crits
2% - 50% lvl 44

#2 charm: 34 str
50% - 100% lvl 44

I will try to collect more data (100+ actions is much too small sample size) but if you know, if that was done before, let me know and I won't bother :P
Anyway, for now I am a bit surprised that the difference is not that big. Seems like more crits is really powerful.

Let me know what you think.

Regards
M

PS. no skills/abilities were used to not screw up the data.

Short answer is ~8

Long answer gets complicated since axes are .5 per str/dex and your EE gets modified by total main stat so it's not linear.

Here is how it used to be calculated. Not sure if anyone has tested this more recently.

Ladder Slasher melee damage formula:
Chance of critical hit = attacker's dexterity / (500 + attacker's dexterity) + 0.2 per point of critical strike
CritMultiplier = 200% + 1% per point of attacker's dexterity - 1% per point of defender's dexterity
Maximum CritMultiplier = 300% dmg, Minimum critmultiplier = 100% dmg
Normal attack damage = (0.95+ attacker's strength / 100) x base weapon damage - defense
Critical hit damage = (0.95 + attacker's strength / 100) x base weapon damage x CritMultiplier
* base weapon damage is weapon damage shown with 0 strength, average damage = 5.5 x weapon tier

Probably some other stuff going on here; and like you said, small sample size. But this is what I am seeing

Your average damage with str gear is 15% higher.

This is less relevant but with str gear
You took less hits by 8%
You spent 2.5 minutes less time (probably due to afk)

sword seem to scale alot with cs as well
club seems broken with cs as they dont crit at all

Copy + paste is a powerful weapon. Few people truly know the answer if not only one.
