I played once or twice awhile ago, but never really made it anywhere

I’m a level 1 magician and I got rekt in the catacombs, what modifiers on gear should I go for? Just enhanced effect?

Mage you want EE charms... Int armor and weapon... Possibly wanna have adds like max mana and Mana per kill on your items.

What about hp regen or hp on kill?

Life regen and Mana regen are used to build your house and mp back up faster after you've been worn down and need to go back to town (mainly applicable if you climb solo) life per kill is a nice add, but the Mana adds are much more important for a caster. As a caster you can also carry a heal charm in your 2nd charm slot.

I would suggest try going barb or fighter, and invest into some cheap swords with enhanced effect and armor/charms with Strength.

This would allow you to play classes all the way to pally with the same set of items.

For mage you would want Staff/dagger/armors with Int, and Enhanced effect on dmg charms and heal charms in Acc. Slot

for melee
get ee axes and daggers
get ee and dex armors
get dex charms(can go life charms1-10ish)

for caster

get intel staff
get intel robe
get ee charm
get ee heal charm

Keep your eye on the marketplace. You can find a lot of cute little upgrades for cheap. A lot of times you can get by with 1-5 fg per item.

Yeah dont worry about side mods atm.

Just need to get your ee items first.

daggers and axes can get you through all the melee classes.

maybe some ee scales or leathers, dex robes.

Then all the intel gear.
