Finally geared enough to solo explore beyond level 40, and in the last couple hours I've run into EPs that seem to be immune to my club attacks. Is this normal? What do? It's happened twice, and between them and the trap doors it seems I'll never complete a lv40+ exploration for a map.

The effect of those monsters abilities wear off, so you will be fine, only one to worry about is Soften the Sneaky Shell (objective)

EDIT: wear off is mostly the wrong words to use, time limit is more accurate.

Well I know some do that red aura thing that's only temporary, but these dudes didn't do that. I just swing at them for a few minutes for nothing but 0's
Maybe it's this Soften the Sneaky Shell thing you mentioned?

One was an EP slugslider, can't remember what the other was.

Yeah if no mages are on to help just log out and make a new map, there is no point to killing it if you intend on doing master quest.

Guess so, might even have to reroll and hope next climb I find this objective at a lower level where I can probably handle it
Since this is the 3rd map I've had to give up on, on top of 2-3 other trap doors I've hit today. Was.... so.... close.... to finishing....

two ways to solve the Soften the Sneaky shell.

1. don't do one of the previous objectives (choose one)
2. if solo, ENABLE solo mode (new update feature):

•Added a new command to toggle single player "easy mode": /set easy [1|0]

◦This feature determines how many monsters spawn when you are playing solo. In easy mode, only 1-2 regular monsters will spawn, and only 1 evil presence at a time. Regular mode is 1-3 monsters or evil presences. This feature is enabled by default until you complete your first Master Quest of the current season.

◦To see your current single player mode: /set easy
◦To enable: /set easy 1
◦To disable: /set easy 0

◦This does not save between character changes/logouts. You must re-issue this command as desired if you change characters or logout.

This will ensure that you won't get Sneaky because you won't be able to do Pinch and one other objective.
