I agreed with someone on a specific price for an item. This was in a thread too. Within seconds of posting, it was purchased by another user.

I get it, the marketplace is a free for all, but it's 2026, can't we come up with some solution for player to player trades where both avoiding fees (posting at 1fg) and the vault aren't necessary?

Rant over.

Was the item sold for the agreed upon price or was it placed up for 1fg to avoid the fees? I'm just trying to figure out exactly what went down.

Agreed upon price. Someone just bought it first. My frustration is that all trades are essentially up for grabs.

I can't even say it's an honor system everyone doesn't follow. Someone could have just looked at MP and wanted to purchase the item.

Seems silly to me we can't figure out a system to avoid all these issues...

Well, just as a random comment, if somebody else took it at the agreed-upon price, then it was probably worth more, since at least 2 were willing to pay what was agreed upon.

What was the item?

Pretty rough, odd that someone would be searching specifically for an item like that, but I suppose it happens. They were either looking to snipe the item (watching the trades go down) or happened to catch a timing.

Unfortunately that's just the way of the MP.

Believe it was this item priced at 100fg:

Angelic pixiesilk padded robe
Level Req: 50
Physical Defense: 0 to 37
Magical Defense: 27 to 68
+9 Extra Equipment Slots
+1% Armor Pierce
+1% Lightning Mastery
+1% Earth Mastery

You're 100% right, and maybe it was worth more. I'm not disparaging someone who uses the system as it is meant to be used. I'm frustrated that after 20 years, there isn't a system that allows for user to user trades without avoiding transaction fees by posting at 1fg.

Ie, a trade thread is created. Prices are agreed upon. Maybe through the thread it is linked to LS market somehow where the price is fixed and posted between the parties.

I'm a monkey when it comes to tech, but do believe a way needs to be made for this.

I mean, an honest auction system in the market might be nice. I don't want to deal with topics at all. Put in your starting bid amount, auction length, hit go.

Auction is one way, but a user to user agreement should also be an option. What's the point of negotiating in topics, coming to an agreement, if anyone can buy it? Again, not complaining about the buyer, moreso the system. Seems silly

Add a section to the Marketplace where the Seller can put in the Buyers ID# and that item only appears to the Buyer and not the rest of the items. Also, this means it does NOT have to be searched by item type or Tier.

Take Guild vault as an example where they transfer items to a member using their ID #, however this trade is only seen by the Buyer who has that ID # and not the rest... same market fees.

If this was implemented it can also stop sniping.

That's a wonderful idea. The issue on the backend would be all trades being 1fg. If we want this to be added, we need to account for Paul's fee. Thoughts?
