Basically, like the old days, hunting EPs people would explore to a certain point and re-make (re-create) a catacomb and start again ... well since the Well was introduced to only be found in a catacomb, people used to do the same thing, Hunt EPs and a Well.

Anyway, this Image (using Lightshot) https://prnt.sc/5LldFXxbgBUX and getting to a dead end, I honestly felt it was pointless to back track to unexplored squares and thought it would be better to just make a new game (Catacomb).

Would you do the same or waste time back tracking?

I would restart it in this example too far back ...

I would definetely re-create cata. The only thing I imagine in those moments is "there most probably are more dead end passages in this same cata, with my luck it is just not worth it"

Maybe you remake cata to a nice big room.

One time was in a medium sized catacomb with zero rooms in it and the worst ever backtracking hell IMO. I advised him to remake the maze but he is always so stubborn. When he finally finished the maze the map drop was top tier. He told me that it was worth it. I guess it was
