Lets take a robe dex armor for instance.

Since they aren't used for defense obviously wouldn't you just be best off finding an early robe at say level 30/35 with super nice stats and wearing it pretty much till MQ or at least 55?

Does the def bonus of robes warrant getting a new one every 5-10 levels?

if you take an unspawnable robe from lvl 1 and compare to a lvl 35 robe it is a difference.. but lvl 35-55 wont change too much regarding the defence

So pretty much aim for a nice tier 3-4 then 35 what about at 55 Worth upgrading again then if stats are similar to 35? Or don't worry about it and keep 35?

Agree with Alex, that you'll get a much bigger difference in defense between a lvl 1 robe and a lvl 35 robe compared to a lvl 35 and 55. Lvl 1 robes have practically no defense at all.

I will add the caveat that this only applies when comparing the same type of robe, since "padded robe" is basically double the defense of a "robe" when it comes to physical with a basically negligible difference in magical defenses.

If you're playing in group whistle 5-man and you're not tanking, you probably won't notice too much the difference in defense between a lvl 35 and a lvl 55 so yup you're good there.

When you are solo you will probably notice but if the lvl 55 has the same or lower dex, it's probably not worth having two.

I would highly recommend you try to pick up a padded for solo though.

I solo from time to time in this:

Mythical nightshade robe
Level Req: 35
Physical Defense: 0 to 16
Magical Defense: 28 to 86

+32 Dexterity
+3 Magic Luck
+3 Extra Equipment Slots
+7 Critical Strike
+23% Heal Mastery

and around lvl 70 or so I swap to this:

Legendary spiderthread padded robe
Level Req: 55
Physical Defense: 0 to 123
Magical Defense: 107 to 268

+166% Enhanced Effect
+18 Intelligence
+1 Magic Luck
+1 Mana Regen
+1 Extra Equipment Slots
+1% Life Steal
+4% Heal Mastery

Purely for the defense obviously. (These are shown on the same character with 71 vit and 49 int)

Here is a lvl 1 robe and padded robe on the same character to compare their defenses as well:

Arcane woolen robe
Physical Defense: 0 to 4
Magical Defense: 8 to 25

+8 Vitality
+289 Max Life
+252 Max Mana
+1 Magic Luck
+1 Life Regen
+1% Magical Damage Reduction

Arcane woolen padded robe
Physical Defense: 0 to 9
Magical Defense: 8 to 21

+15 Dexterity
+3 Critical Strike
+2% Physical Damage Reduction
-1% Mana Consumption
+1% Mana Skin
+1 Jubilance

Hope that helps

Check my understanding and we will find out.

Padded robes only unless EE+ similar stats on a regular robe.

Get a low level padded high stat robe. Another one at 35 and it you can upgrade to probably at least +10 stats over the 35 get that too. If not probably don't bother.

Sound about right?

Umm... sorta yeah. Assuming you are solo these are kind of what to look at.

Just to clarify because a lot of people misunderstand this part.

100% ee = double
200% ee = triple

Since padded robes are basically double the defense of a "robe," to equal a 50 ee padded robe, you'd need a 200 ee non-padded robe of the same level. Of course the magical defense will be a lot higher on the "robe" but it honestly doesn't count for as much as you'd think.
