Hello.
I've wanted to give the game an honest shot for a while now but have been postponing it.

Now I feel like it's finally time but I'm kind of scared to start.

What is a good recommended starter and is my current forum gold enough to get into it? Seems like high-end endgame items are quite pricy. Not looking to min-max right away of course but I want to get a good idea of what the game is like.

Also is it better to have a guild that plays it or can you play in random parties also?

Fighter or barb are good to start. I'd recommend getting tank armor (chains or plates with enhanced effect but leathers and scales are ok too). Swords or clubs as weapons with EE and charms with strength.

You can definitely do climbs with minimal FG but obviously won't be as fast.

Got it. Have to do some minor research I guess and eventually scout the market for some cheap deals to start out :D
How are the drop rates in playing self-found solo? is it even a thing or is it not to recommend?

I solo probably 90% of the time. Better drops will mainly come from evil presences, or EPs, which are found by exploring the maze. Most people just whistle which is constant spamming of monsters to get to master quest as soon as possible.
Personally that bores the hell out of me and I don't find any enjoyment in that. So I like to solo explore and hope to find some good items along the way.

Hi in my opinion the best set to have as first set is a dagger set
Simple cause rogue , samurai , monk , ninja use daggers

If you only wan t to play feeders so invest in club they are pretty cheap
Mage can be cheap also ( just heal charm is expensive )

Interesting take definately.
I'm trying to solo right now because it looks like most people are playing in guilds and I'm without one, so I don't want to interfere with them :P
How are the drop rates for items, do you usually find good stuff?

stick with your swords/clubs for feeder, samy, pally, don't invest in daggers unless you enjoy it and make it to monk

solo explore is your best bet to find anything, good drops are rare, selling mutables and white items you find will fund a basic set of gear. enjoy!
