So, it took me a while to figure this and figured I'd share. Feel free to call me names or heckle me heh.

It can be solo or a tolerant group but,

if you keep remaking a game to find an open map, you won't have to drege through mass random mobs to find eps. You just need to logout, click on a new character and log back in to the one you're climbing with.

With death farming being a thing of the past, I find this to be the most tolerable solution to get those juicy 55 drops.

Attached is an image of the third try to get an open map. Looks great so far and I just regen during the wait period to reenter catas.

Wouldn't the chances of coming across an EP still be the same? Unless you're talking about less back tracking, which I get that. Was always one of the most annoying things, finding a dead end.

Sammy has been rough for me too. I have some daggers and armors lacking in the 55 area.

Back tracking can also seem to go on for miles at times

With this event I've been making new games until after 10 mobs I run into at least 2 EP groups. If it doesn't happen I make another game.

Been finding some games with countless EPs this way. Like every 5 mobs it's an EP.

Takes 20+ new games to accomplish this but it's definitely worth it for me.

I usually need to regen after so the buffer doesn't affect me.

I was recently thinking about something (maybe it has already been discussed, but I could not find the info). If you use a lvl 30 map, with a char lvl 55+, with max monster being lvl 55 on this map), would you be able to simply search EPs that would be lvl 55 (would they always be 55, or is it a max and they could be lower?) ? Or do the drops get less interesting if your char lvl is higher than the map max monster lvl? If the drops are not impacted, the monsters would not get harder even if you are a higher lvl, and yes you don't get much XP from this but the point is to get to EPs as soon as possible. And these maps would be cheaper and easier to find than higher lvl maps, with harder monsters because of the max monster lvl.
Does it make any sense?

Drop quality and quantity is reduced on quite a steep curve for every level above the mob you are. Yes, every mob would be lvl 55 on such a map when you are at or over the level cap. You will probably not notice too drastic a reduction in drop quantity/quality at lvl 56, but by lvl 57 and especially 58 it will be obvious. If you reach lvl 61+ you will see almost no drops. It could be worth it, despite all that now that deathfarming is gone. GL!

This does work, remember each turn you do is a chance to spawn mobs and not a chance to spawn eps. Going forwards to unexplored tiles is the only way to spawn eps. So maximising the amount you can go forwards through unexploreed open rooms helps in finding wells, eps, treasure chests and emblems.

Alternatively you could run a map which every single tile is a chance of an ep spawn except the last tile which is obviously the final chest

This is also why you should potentially consider resetting your map if you have to retrace a significant number of your steps
