If I manage to complete my sword set should I just sell my clubs? For the most part they are equal in enhanced effect.

Clubs are unnecessary if you have sword. Depending on if they do more dmg or not. I'd just sell em personally.

Swords get u more if you already have str gear when it comes to classes

daggers and axes are really the only melee sets needed for optimal use along all classes.

I would as there isn’t really a reason to keep them. If you wanted to loan them out to guildies or something you can keep them, but functionally there isn’t much point.

As pokela said you can also get some staffs for monk class, or you can go offcast monk using int staffs, which you will need for WL anyways.

for people doing solo and not worried about passing classes, clubs/staffs are both very cheap weapons to go for.
200ee level 55 goes for about 7-11k, getting a 200ee axe is going to set you back 50-80k.
All the other levels are also similar.

As joka pointed out, reaching headhunter is also a long way and especially on softcore where the seasons regularly only lasts 3-4 months.
I personally went with clubs as my first set until i could afford a decent dagger set. I currently haven't really felt the need to swap to axes yet either.

At the point where you need axes and are unable to borrow them from friends is when you should consider the dagger/axe route, although nothing wrong with sword + staff + axes. But daggers + clubs + axes is especially redundant having the clubs seeing the clubs arn't filled in any gaps and are also using strength items when daggers/axes can be done with pure dex.
