My assumption is you get more EP treasure well and totem in catacomb, so seems to always be better than map... But not sure since I collect some maps during catacomb so not sure when I should be using mas

I don’t think that there’s much of a consensus on what’s best, there are those who prefer running garbage maps :P Personally I’d never consider running any map that doesn’t have some interesting mods. Exploring for good maps and hunting wells and welling tons of items is both better and more fun imo

That makes sense! Do you know if there's any benefit to this mod: "% Monster Difficulty Increases the monster difficulty by this amount."

Monster difficulty is one of the most desired map mods, it boosts the amount of high level items that drop, in particular whites. I ran one of them a few weeks ago and got these lvl 40+ whites ;)
6 x 40
7 x 45
6 x 50
7 x 55

None of those maps have any greater value, the 15/20 maps might sell for some low amount of fg (1-20ish), the guild point map will also sell, no clue how much people pay for them at the moment though. The T3 with 5 eps is decent to run at lvl 20, might give you some drops or at the very least some shrines or mutes to sell!

To add to the above post...
The GP% maps are mostly cheesy but gives you that percentage to earn a guild point when completing the map - fun to run with guildies at low levels or even solo for the minuscule chance, but it's mostly just useless mod or fun for killing time.
I have run hundreds of them at this point, and have only earned 6 guild points total from them - but if you do with a full group, everyone has the same chance, so if it's a full group of guild mates it's worth it!

Also the higher drop-rate of the whites with monster difficulty mod is really nice for welling the items for potential nice drops or also tossing them up on the market, right now 55 whites are anywhere from 100-200 FG each

My consensus is Maps are better than catacombs because you know you will find X# of Evil Presence & Treasure Chests.

When to use them... well that is up to you really.

I run catacombs from level 1 to 10 (exploring them completely for Maps).
I run Tier I maps that have EPs on them, normally 3+ from level 10 to 15. Note: I keep Tier I, II & III maps with +X Monster Level Cap modifiers at higher levels, as long as they have EPs on them.

Example would be a Tier I Map with +3 EPs and +15 Monster Level Cap for me to start it at level 25 ... that is because the Cap is level 30 monster level within a 5x5 Maze Dimension (25 squares ... and the last one is definitely a Treasure Chest)

Level 5 maps start at level 20 minimum, because level 30 monster level cap.
Level 10 maps start at level 25 minimum ... 35 monster level cap
Level 15 maps start at level 28 minimum ... 40 monster level cap... Note: Level starting depends on EPs on the map and event.

As for doing catacombs... I run from 1-10 (hopefully finding better maps) and at times I will run catacombs all the way to level 30 in hopes for higher maps ... sucks if you fall in TDs... at higher level catacombs, I don't bother to complete them unless I get lucky with spins and no TDs.

It is all up to you.

Map Mods that are best to have:

EPs (maybe some TCs)
+X Monster level Cap
+X% Monster Difficulty
+X Well
+X% Item Drop

People like warm lights, I don't because they take up squares that could be another EP/TC/Monster or Emblem. Just a personal preference.

As for +1-XX% Experience Gain... up to those that want to level up faster clearing that map.

I hate "+X% Swarm"

Oh, +Stealth helps you get in the first attack when encountering a monster wave.

EDIT: The maps have a Set dimension to the maze (Tier I 5x5, Tier II 6x5 [i will have to check on that]) etc. Catacomb dimensions alter slightly if starting a new Catacomb like at level 19 instead of 15. At 19, it would be larger compared to 15 ... as for a Map @ level 15, the dimension is the same even if you start it at level 30 where the monster level cap is 40.
