clicking as fast as possible is the way to fish fast (joking no secret sauce just click), after lvl 15 fishing use a well to remove the 2 tier
If you are lvl 0 fish lvl 1 and so on (except for fast fishing)
For the rods same tier or upper tier depend of the dura you have (do some test about what's works for you)

Cooking is fast to level up when you get the proper fish, the best approach is to cook your grade and stack the rest for later
Avoid cooking when fast event

Lvl 0 - 5 --> Sardine
Lvl 5 - 10 --> Herrings
Lvl 10 - 15 --> Cods
Lvl 15 - 20 --> Trouts
Lvl 20 - 25 --> Bass fish

Cooking are more or less getting 7 - 12 prof per fish when you follow this, going higher grade will fuck-up the cooking of the fish and you wont gain so much more

Be ready for a sitting on a well and not climbing ! because fishing require a well at higher level and you have to sit on it for 30h :D

probably talking about this one: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=84569010&f=272

in terms of "as fast as possible" dont need to worry about events, basically want the biggest rod you can get your hands on and fish about 5-10 levels past your current rank, depending on how good your rod is.

In general i personally recommend
1-4 prof: Fish level 5 fish using splintered rod 10-25 dura or pine rod with 20-50 dura, town pond is fine.
5-8 prof: Fish level 10 fish using elm rod 30-75 dura or or ironwood 50-100 dura, town pond is fine
8-10 prof Fish only during Faster Fishing events in a well catching level 15 fish with Ironwood rod with 80-125 dura
11-15 prof Fish level 15 fish in a well using ironwood 30-100 dura or heartwood 50-150 dura
This generally optimises max fg per time spent and the amount of fish caught.

In your case as i said, higher durability so generally aim for a rod 8-12 levels higher your current fishing prof with as much dura as possible. This just causes the fish to take longer to catch which is less messing around muling them. Can even using level 15/20 rods at like 5 prof, this makes it really slow and i find it actually fails reasonably often as well.
I doubt you'll get that much more prof than my above suggested setup and as i said, you get less fish with this setup so cooking could be more of an issue, however most fishers have large stacks of sardine/herring you can buy if you want to prof that in particular.

Level 15+ fish caught in a well cannot be sardine
Level 30+ fish caught in a well cannot be sardine or herring
Not catching awful fish is generally recommended, so only reason i do not fish in a well is when i'm waiting for a climb to start, where i will trash all sardines.
Level 45+ fish caught in a well cannot be sardine or herring or cod

For cooking when only after prof, avoid cooking events, although you can cook higher tier fish, you may want to hold onto those for when you reach higher prof ranks
In general for prof:
Cook Sardines for as long as you can put up with it, still get fine prof at rank 8 cooking, however it's annoyingly fast.
Then use up the herrings when prof starts sucking for prof.

Cooking for FG:
Cook sardines to hit rank 2-3 cooking just to get it done with
rank 4-5 cooking, cook ideally during cooking events, herring/cod
Rank 6-10 cooking, cook herring/cod/trout
Rank 11-15 cooking, cook cod/trout/bass
etc

Fishing and cooking has a 1 sec delay timer ... so do NOT spam click "Reel" (for fishing), if you time it correctly, you can click "Snag" when it appears and successfully get a Fish. Same goes with cooking.

Anyway, I tested this out without a Rod @ rank 0 fishing ... I failed at least 4 times before getting the timing correct and succeeded ... gain +6 prof points.

Re-test with 0 Rod (trainee rod of course in the Pond) ... okay... did not realize that the Reel / Snag buttons changed positions (guessing it removes any bot type function keeping it random). Anyway, gained another +6 Prof for successfully fishing.

Cooked the first sardine @ 100% success rate (50 life t 100 life) = +10 Prof point gain.

Successful Sardine fished without a Rod in the pond = +93 Life and +6 Prof gain

74% successful cooked sardine ... did not see prof gain because I aborted cooking.

75% successful cooked sardine = +9 Prof points.

Basically you need to cook 100 sardines 100% successfully to get Rank 1.

Hope this small information helps you out. the three(3) fish and cooked =;

149 Life (74% cooked)
100 Life (100% cooked)
162 Life (75% cooked)

Edit: Just checked my Fishing Rank = 18/1000 (+6 gain per fish), also checked Cooking Rank = 27/1000, thus +10 (100% success) . +9 (75% success) which leaves +8 (74% success) ... I was thinking +2 prof per 20%, but this doesn't seem to be the case, also +1 prof per 10% success doesn't factor in either.

Just dangle your worm out there and yank on it when it’s in their mouth.

What's the benefit of +proficiency fishing rods, do you still have the prof gain of your actual rank? Like for ex. you are rank 4, use a rod with +1 prof, is the prof gain calculated based on rank 4 or 5?
