If once a month Paul could take two minutes to post an update on how the LS development is going, his plans for the next patch, response to suggestion topics or just show us that he still cares I think people would calm down a ton and be more patient.

He released 1.29 , communicated with the community for some feedback, changed up a few things and fixed a few bugs, and we haven't heard from him since (and this was over 7 months ago)

It's not enough to say that you still care, sometimes you have to show it

e; and no, private PM conversations with Rick don't count unfortunately...

I think alchemists should be able to equip warhammers, because of base str would still be useless for melee, but he could drag it behind him and use it for side mods

Interesting comment... I do see the potential there for a Warhammer, now this brings back long memories of a suggestion I once created... IF [optimum wording] you want to read about it, check the link provided for some of the comments... please note that this suggestion got an 87 yes / 35 no / 4 other... and these are from gamers that played during and b4 catacombs etc.

Anyway... this was the suggestion:

Quote (izParagonzi @ Aug 24 2009 02:45pm)
Ok... now this NEW class is actually the opposite of the "Alchemist" and is unlocked in conjunction with the "Alchemist"
(Once you successfully pass with Headhunter you unlock BOTH the "Alchemist" and this new character)

The last five locked classes are limited to armor choices:
Monk <-- Robes
Ninja <-- Robes (Edited: missed this one)
Warlock <-- Robes
Headhunter <-- Robes / Leather / Scale
Alchemist <-- Robes

So why not introduce a character that can use other armor... well you guys take a look and say your piece... I am sure it will be enlightening... also... if you want to add to it... go for it... it is only a suggestion.

A new character:

Weapon Specialist (write up something that may be better suited below)
The Weapon Specialist focuses on the ability to specialise in every melee weapon available, the determination to excel in hacking down mobs
of minions with ease. The gracefulness that comes from dancing with these weapons make no other class compare. The might of the heavier
weapons make quick work of the foes that fall to their knees. Who needs the effects of sorcery when you can get satisfaction of looking your
opponent in the eyes when face to face, might, braun, and charisma while disecting your opponent with your own skill is by far the best satisfaction
you will ever come to know.

Weapons: All Types
Armor: Chains, Plate Mail
Charms: None

Starting Stats:
Stength: 60... Dexterity: 60... Intelligence: 5... Vitality: 50

Guild Points:
100 (Pass) / 1 (Fail)

Now... after reading the INITIAL idea... we go into the link for reading the opinions [NOTE; even with the updates to this day, this suggestion can be implemented successfully... well that is my opinion]

Link: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=34491114&f=272&o=0

After reading through... this was a little revamp on the same idea:

Alas, poor ladder slasher! I knew him, Horatio, a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy. I hath been borne on backs a thousand times, and now, how abhorred in my imagination it is! My gorge rises at it. Here hung those keys that I have turned doors to dust with I know not how oft. —Where be your gibes now? Your gambols? Your songs? Your flashes of rooms that were wont to set the table on a roar? Not one now to mock your own grinning?

all in all people are just butthurt cause they miss one thing or the other, i don't know what kind of big update would make the games player base grow to former heights, but some small updates would be great and make the game a little more enjoyable
like
make sneaky meleeable (really needed for solo players, i HATE giving up my maze cause i done the quests a little fast that climb)
make every class able to detect tds (would be nice to have that power no matter the class)
removing instant fail from glyphing
tweak face the evil (pretty hard to spawn, i never tried it)
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=70398169&f=272
i'm sure i had more of these small but genius suggestions, but i'm some what of a stoner ^^ and the people who votes no in good suggestion cause the outcome would affect them and still complain about no progress are dicks! (and i believe they're out there unfortunately)
also would be nice with some more feedback from njag every now and then, but you can always pm rick what ever and he will always throw you an answer

When did it start, and why? This question is really focused towards the people that have been here for years.

When muting started to get regulated is when most of the player base left, imo. While there were a great deal of people who played only to increase their wealth, it brought much attention and popularity to the game.
I saw the player base go from 300-400 to <50, after this decline happened, HC was added which lowered the player base even more.

Will there ever be an increase in the player base again?
