I still hold true that it's axiomatic that those three are "meant" to be casters, where the others are "meant" to be melee...or even hybrid. Yes it's certainly possible to play a melee mage, I've done it with great success, same with a warlock. Just as it's also possible to play the other classes as casters. However, taken in context with the rest of my post, it still doesn't make it a good idea. I already stated that caster>melee both in terms of damage and in terms of affordability. Paul keeps fucking melee over and keeps giving benefits to casters. Normally I don't care about "fair play" as anyone can choose to change to a caster instead of being melee. I do care that my investment in this game was destroyed and I'm almost forced to give paul more money just to play the same game. I refuse to do it as many others have. I'll wait for the rest of the update to come out and then I'll decide whether this game is fun for me or not.
The "devalue" of items is actually a very old topic. Which was most obvious believe it or not when the drop rates were increased which in turn flooded the market with higher level items which devalued items. Needless to say, the 40,000 fg 230 ee swords dropped down to 12000-15000 fg. There were several unpopular decisions which happen including removing no-maze catacombs and the former transmute system. This increased the item value dramatically, again, nearly normal after it worked out it's kinks. However, this was still never enough. The reason being, the staunch drop rates from before while having the beloved transmute system, welling and later no-maze catacombs gave the thrill of the hunt. Unlike now, it is a contention based system. 5 people competing for 1 item. Your entitlement has been removed. Ironically, the actual monster drop rates largely increased, probably 30 fold of what it used to be. Which supposedly is the system to replace the older methods of mayhem. In my opinion this happen to give anyone a chance, people who are incapable of welling or arena to have a chance at the best items at the expense of the people who earned, bought or invested to have such ownership. A bit of ladder slasher socialism if you will.
Now, back when I departed these parts, the prices did start to drop again. To my understanding now, values drop because of statistical changes rendering some things... questionable at best. Well, you know, I'd much prefer a staunch drop rate with the ability of "ownership" especially of my own fate, being it Arena, Welling, Transmuting or No maze catacombs. Which of course increases the value of game play, our investments and in hindsight the community. But, going back to my previous point in this topic, being force fed multiplayer is not the way of the world of gaming. It's simply a part of it but not THE it.
The conclusion is, multiplayer, higher drop rates replacing the arena, welling, no maze catacombs. Trade off, interesting.
