I guess I could expand on this a little. :/
1. It would hurt the game economics if it were free or cheap to use. This isn't even debatable.
If it were pricey to use it'd eventually die out since the cost would become too much for the GP gain from risk-free item lending. (Basically like buying GPs, except it'd hurt the market too)
2. There are virtually limitless issues with things like shrining, dying (on hc), deleting characters, getting locked, etc, etc that'd cause items to still be lost out of the owners control.
I think I saw somewhere in there, that these items would be made indestructable to prevent such things? Seriously? ... I don't know what you people are smoking, and I don't want any.
3. This is ridiculously overpowered for the bigger/richer LS players and guilds who could provide gear for many slashers with no risk. It's basically incentive to invest in a few extra gear sets to get their guild easy and risk free guild points leading to a monopoly-like situation where there isn't fair competition among guilds.
4. I don't see anything that could ever make this idea work.
I'm sure there are plenty more reasons as well, but I don't want to waste any more time thinking about this.
