So the big question I'd have at this point is: Is it worth crawling through (currently at 42+) now that shrinables are gone in hopes of higher tier drops, or do I look and see that I actually have items up to 35, even if bad, and reroll, stock up on shrinables, not have to use them that much longer, and get to 42 again fast, not having to worry so much early on? First reroll got me from 32 running out to 42 running out. So I dunno.

I can only talk about my own runs... I have re-rolled twice and using the items I found during those runs to make it better.
I re-rolled 56 (did not even have like level 25 gear) and took too long to kill one normal monster, did the same around level 50 using lvl20 weapon / lvl35 armor and lvl25 reg heal... now I currently have a level 50 spear, level 50 reg heal and level 40 armor ... all suck, but now I am level 62 and doing a lot better... I should make it to MQ now and hopefully find better items than;

Magical tintitanium spear
Level Req: 50
Damage: 115 to 202
+2% Earth Mastery

Angelic diamond chain mail
Level Req: 40
Physical Defense: 42 to 107
Magical Defense: 0 to 40
+11 Intelligence
+1% Critical Flux
+2% Power Shot
+21% Ice Mastery

Rare heal XIII
Level Req: 50
Heals: 72 to 192
Mana Cost: 101
+3 Mana Regen
+6% Lightning Mastery

I would re-roll in your circumstance. Mind you, I did choose the most restricted class to do a bufcore run... :D

So to understand correctly, you've only rerolled once, but have those profs, including that heavy weapon prof, without an MQ?

Kind of crazy, not gonna lie.

Edit: I can't read. You did say rerolled twice. Sorry.

No... re-rolled twice... 56 and 50 ish, I posted it all in this thread, well besides my last ranking when I re-rolled the second time around.

EDIT: saw your edit after post... :D

EDIT2: I have a level 15 Battleaxe during my second run, so I got some nice prof gain there... :D and you know me... I only use Heavy weapons if I have them available.

Yeah. Still crazy profs on those heavy weapons. Pretty intense. But seeing your gear and your belief that MQ is well enough, I'm reconsidering rerolling. I dunno. We'll just have to see how aggravated I get I guess.

Edit: Yeah, I mean, prof gain is still slower than regular due to the above defense damage you'd do.

Even though I made another edit to my post, we seem to be missing each others post.

I chose Guardian specifically for Heavy weapons (just my thing) and collecting them up for any unlocked characters (other than Warlock which is staff only), I can assure you of one simple fact for my Bufcore character "izzi" doing a Master Quest... I will FAIL on purpose and continue on as a Guardian... basically if the first key is successful, I will press F5 ... if the game says for me to MQ again, I will continue pressing F5 until I fail the attempt... this process will continue for a minimum of 6 or more fails for the +1 stat points... it is kinda my thing and I can continue on gaining Heavy Weapon proficiency with Guardian and the chance to collect up more Lonswords for Samurai and other classes etc.

On a side note... I have noticed one thing while doing Bufcore runs... you don't need Scale / Leather armor at all unless you start with a Rogue... just use Heavy armor like Chain or Plate and build up scales during runs. Think about it, the only time you NEED to use leather or scale after Paladin is Headhunter ... so you may want to find Padded Robes first.

Actually I was watching all the prof gain I was getting with Heavy weapons around level 30 + ... actually decent... but we all know that Healing profs are the bomb dot com.

example: +5 prof to Battleaxe (level 15) killing one normal monster @ level 30+

I think it would be best to slog through in hopes of higher tier drops until at least lvl 50 or more if you can stand the grind. Your items aren't too far behind your level and if you reroll then you're wasting 40 levels worth of time since it's unlikely you'll find anything you can use at your current level unless you get lucky with an ee lower tier drop. So when you get back up to that level you're likely to be in the same position.

On my first climb I also reconsidered rerolling around your level having a 35 weapon, but I stuck with it and in the low 50s I found a 45 axe and then in the mid 60s I got really lucky with a lvl 50 90 ee polearm drop.

It's also possible to go all the way with just a lvl 35 weapon although it's obviously a painful grind. I'm pretty sure Jangalang did his first climb with a level 35 sword.

I'm caught in a well I can't kill. Nearly ripped already, had me down to 268 life when I got out. And it's a giggabee thing, so it's calling random reinfs. But self-healer, so by the time I regen, it's healed a ton. This should be fun. :o

He's using a Guardian so I'd assume it's double the painful grind

I'm using a fighter, not guardian. Rex is on the guardian.
