Actual instances of argumentum ad hominem are relatively rare.
Ironically, the fallacy is most often committed by those who accuse their opponents of ad hominem,
since they try to dismiss the opposition not by engaging with their arguments, but by claiming that they resort to personal attacks.
Those who are quick to squeal "ad hominem" are often guilty of several other logical fallacies,
including one of the worst of all: the fallacious belief that introducing an impressive-sounding Latin term somehow gives one the decisive edge in an argument.

damit rick.. i have 2 weeks off from school.. i dont need people sounding like my professers here.. its agrivating enough that i actually understood all that you said :(.

Actually, I never insulted anyone in this thread. I simply stated that you can prevent your death and even gave people tips on how you do that. I also stated by keeping actions to a maximum, you can keep up with people in exp. I have done the climbs and have done them with feeder casters and the like and have seen people who are higher classes that are melee or even high as Headhunter keep up with "feeder casters" or classes that have much lower exp penalty than the higher ones.

And calling someone a "twit" or in other words such as a synonym, an "idiot". In response to somebody making a comment about someone else's statements regarding this thread and the topics within the thread and stating his points about how he feels people stating things that could be prevented with a little bit of logical analysis.

I know you like to just sit there and brainlessly click and expect results in this game, but you need to realize that is not the case. Don't blame your inefficiency on the game or think that since you are falling 6 levels behind is not your fault. Because from what I have seen, as I have stated before, I have seen people who have high actions stay in range or right with them. And the ones who don't, fall behind.

But rather than just responding back with an opinion or some form of logic to dispute my claim, you would rather try to use personal insults to dispute them, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT AD HOMINEM ATTACKS ARE.

I guess I need to go back to watching tv. Because I just got trolled pretty hard.

My melee actions are always at the max that I have targets for.
One of the reasons that they may not be as high as others is that I can only hit one at a time, and many times the one that I am aiming for has been blown away by a caster, along with 4 or 5 others.
One thing that I am NOT is a leecher -- ask anyone who has played with me on any of my char's.

Hence yes -- twit fits as an appropriate description. Unless you have walked a mile in my shoes, just mind your own business.

I don't understand how cole gets as many actions as he does. Even if you pay attention and click every monster possible you'll still be behind in actions to that nerd

McClain is the LS G.O.A.T. Would you expect anything less from the Greatest Of All Time? Don't try to explain it--just cough it up to the fact that it's Cole.

if theres one thing i noticed paul doesnt really generalize his characters
he wont say warlock is a casting class and that makes sense to me.
because everyone who plays the game should be able to do it how they like
usually people who hafve shitty gear and cant cast chars like ninja and stuff are usually the people that dont get to climb with the "good" people anyway

Paul does distinguish right here http://ladderslasher.d2jsp.org/index.php?g=2

warlock=The Warlock combines arcane knowledge and divine inspiration to evoke the wrath of the heavens upon his enemies. By orchestrating the spirits of the supernatural and conjuring powerful magical spells, the Warlock manages to subdue even the most steadfast victims. His physical weakness betrays his elemental brilliance, so the Warlock must hit hard and retreat as needed.

Edit: adding mage and alchy, the only others where he mentions casting in the the description

The Magician commands the elemental forces of nature into devastating attacks. The Magician, while physically frail, uses his mental prowess to borrow the elements themselves intoconcentrated spells against his enemies. Like the Rogue, the Magician's main focus is to hit hard, hopefully before the enemy can attack, as they will not have the physical abilities to stand toe to toe with a foe.

The Alchemist practices the fusion of inorganic materials to produce devices of occult warfare. His opus consists of inestimable elemental magic and syncretism, and despite his fleeting vitality and jellyfish-like arms, legends tell of his tenacious quest to create an elixir of immortality. When he knocks at the doors of his battle-hungry counterparts, his aura blazes like a thousand suns and his pitiless soul casts death itself into their helpless stomachs.

However, I agree with your next point being that people should be able to play how they like. This means that I should be able to log in right now because I feel like playing and play. Even though the "group" isn't scheduled to play for some hours yet. My options are limited, I can either waste time soloing, where lvls are gained at a snails pace and drops are horrendously bad, or I can try to find a group and most likely it'll be be "randos" with bad gear. If it was a group of good geared slashers, they would make a run from 1-71 and I wouldn't be able to join them since they pre arranged their group. There are many people that can cast effectively on any given char(hh aside since not everyone uses lightning). Just as many people can melee on any given char effectively(paparick and his melee lock). However, something needs to change so that melee isn't taking a backseat to everyone wanting to cast. If I could have all my fg back and start now, I would get a really good casting set and be a caster on all classes. Why? Simple, Paul keeps fucking melee over, most recently by making all the gear we had useless. For melee you need str setups, dex setups and str/dex setups. For casting you need intel and that's it(max mana is nice too, but with shrining whenever, it's not as needed). So for casting, get one set of charms, one set of staves, one set of swords(all casting modded) and one set of armors and you are set to go for any class. It's a lot smarter to do it that way then having 2-3 melee weapons setups, 2-3 melee armor set ups, and 2-3 melee charm setups. Caster=4 sets, melee=6-9 sets. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that casting is the way to go.

:hello: Tom you had some really good points and I wanted to comment on them but since it was mostly "agreed...couldn't of said it better" and the like, I decided not to

I believe that those descriptions were created just to be neat/cool with them. And I believe if I am not mistaken that Animage created the Alchemist one.

I still hold true that it's axiomatic that those three are "meant" to be casters, where the others are "meant" to be melee...or even hybrid. Yes it's certainly possible to play a melee mage, I've done it with great success, same with a warlock. Just as it's also possible to play the other classes as casters. However, taken in context with the rest of my post, it still doesn't make it a good idea. I already stated that caster>melee both in terms of damage and in terms of affordability. Paul keeps fucking melee over and keeps giving benefits to casters. Normally I don't care about "fair play" as anyone can choose to change to a caster instead of being melee. I do care that my investment in this game was destroyed and I'm almost forced to give paul more money just to play the same game. I refuse to do it as many others have. I'll wait for the rest of the update to come out and then I'll decide whether this game is fun for me or not.
