No it won’t work like that for maps.

There is a max cap of exp per monster/wave, so now you will get more. For example if you go down trapdoors or if you are in a group with someone who is a higher level, the max exp you can get from higher level monsters is capped. Now, the cap will be a bit more

Just to clarify "Light_Prince" response.

For each monster there is a Cap to how much experience you get... it doubles if it is an Evil Presence.

So... let us say that you get 1-10 points of experience per normal monster kill, the +17% experience cap means you can get from 1-11.7 points of experience per normal monster kill.
