just put items on the damn marketplace. this didnt used to be a problem. the mp had items because people put them on there. the forum wasnt used to sell sub 100s fg items ffs. just list the damn items forget the fee.
As usual, I agree with Gunslinger on this point. Of course there are always exceptions, but really, I don’t really run into the problem PhiRip is taking about here too much:

Add a search feature to the mail system that allows people to place minimum that their mailbox will always accept for x amt of fg. (ex: skillers buying skillables for x amt of fg) would take up much less space on people actual mp so players can add more than skillables to sell on their mp.
My theory for the reason there are hardly ever good items on the mp is: Players put more weight into putting 1-3 fg skillables on the mp ahead of anything else they would want to sell. Reasons being:
That 1-3 fg is almost always guaranteed profit for skillables. Some days skillers don't buy the skillables and they are stuck on your mp. Well before you know it your mp is filled with 1-3 fg skillables as well as your vault with the ones you are saving to put on the mp afterward.
No new gear that isn't skillables ends up making it onto the mp. Therefore the mp will end up bare as it is now. Even with the implementation I just suggested it could be taken advantage of so it would require some tweaking. I think the best way for the mailbox to happen would be to make it linked to your vault. (Must have enough vault slots for all items mailed) With that said it would have to cost fg to open the mailbox. Idk just a thought.
The mailbox idea itself is basically a shell for much more new content to go with it. Don't think of the mailbox idea as the basic thing originally presented, but all the future adds that could be included in makiing the mailbox something everyone could enjoy.
...because there is no limit to the number of items you can list on the MP for 20+ fg... sure sometimes I waste 1 fg increments in bunches because I’d rather list an item worth 5 fg for 20 fg rather than delete it... but at least it’s up there in case someone really wants it...
Of course what most people are talking about here doesn’t seem to be the primary goal of this suggestion...
The goal is to remove the possibility of snipe, even inadvertent sniping, which I assure you is very possible when buyer and seller are not completely in-synch, or one has a laggy internet connection, or there are a lot of players searching the market place, or obviously if the item is listed before the buyer is ready. Individually, per transaction, the odds of an inadvertent snipe are very low, but with the number of trades that go on, it can and does happen. Since I often search the marketplace for 19+ fg items, I have several times bought items at the intended sale price where I was not the intended buyer (that I know of, but there may have been other times that I am not aware of since people do not always make a topic or ask around). In these cases when I find out I ask both buyer and seller to confirm that the trade was intended with PM string or topic to ensure that it was not a random listing, and as long as it checks out, which it always has, I relist the item for the intended buyer at the cost of an additional fee if the item was expensive enough for it to matter (so that I don’t have to eat the fee... which means the original parties need to eat it twice).
I’m not sure that this mailbox thing is the best solution for the problem, but it is definitely an issue that has caused me some inconvenience and disappointment in the past, and probably will continue to do so.

Good idea going to go post all my items.
Sold half already in 20 minutes.
By the way, when you list items at good prices like that, they do get bought—good on you

Basically, marketplace isn’t empty because no one lists items for fear of losing the fee... the marketplace is empty because the randomly listed good stuff at good prices are bought before you got a chance to see them on it
