Great artist for that era...

There was one main point that I also forgot to mention.

When casting vs 9, 8, or 7 wave of monsters, a caster can determine the monsters defense vs casting/melee, thus, once they recognise a monster that has high defense vs casting, then they should move to another monster... please note that casting does not always involves AoE... it is about killing the monsters faster for the team, thus, any rank5+ in casting is viable in catacombs as long as they know how to identify weak monsters in the pack.

*enter massive wall of text here* (makes for too big of a quote ;) )

I beg to differ... I have 7 proof on my caster and I find I'm either healing more then casting and therefore wacking for no damage with my intell weapon. Or I cast and only cast at waves 6+ to conserve my mana, and therefore the rest of the time again, I'm wacking monsters with my int weapon, thus still doing damage that doesn't even begin to compare with a decent melee person the the group. Unless it's a warlock chances are your caster doesn't have enough mana to effectively heal and cast. I have average gear and 7.25 prof. I do not consider myself as effective in cata. I will only get into a cata if there are 4 guildies that need a 5th. They are perfectly aware of the fact that I can't deal damage and before you tell me that I'm not effective because some of my guild members have elite gear, does not mean all of us do. I KNOW I lack in the "effective" department so it drives me to solo in the arena until I do

The point of this thread isn't about talking how to plot a motive to play with crappy prof in catacombs.

This thread is about how casters are most effective in catacombs. And gaining the most prof you can is the answer.

So take your grinding philosophies to some other thread where you can discuss how you want to play with crappy prof with crappy gear.

you hit it right on the nose Lance

From now on when I join a catacombs, I am going to shout out "WARNING: I HAVE LOW PROF" and I bet people will still play with me.

I really don't care if it takes me a few hours longer to MQ. It's fun for me to cast, I can still heal people when needed, and we have a good time playing. Who cares if I am not as effective as you would like me to be?

I honor your feelings for others and not wanting to punish them for them trying to play the game effectively.

Everyone needs to remember this is just a guide, a starting point for information. If you have tested other things and they work then thats awesome, please continue to use those methods of play. But I think this is a good general layout of information, especially if you dont have much experience with the game.

Thats like how the 120 magic dex number got started. Its a good number to test around, but of course it isnt the only number that works.

I think everyone needs to see this and understand it.

There are many different types of people/ideas in this forum. I'll list them.

1. Sheeps: These are the people who play the game they don't contribute much to ideas or guides or really look forward to pushing their ideas. They just play the game and buy gear and improve their gear and play the game.

2. Idealists: These are people who rather than slash and come up with empirical backing of claims they could make, go on rants and of the the like talking about potential ideas and even talking in any aspects whether it be game mechanics/social stigma of the community/and ls economical aspects.

3. Radicals: These are people who propose ideas that seem to be out of touch with the general consensus of logical ideas of ls. Maybe sometimes a radical won't rant about things being fixed or cry about how hard the game is or how easy it is. It all depends.

4. Legends/Respected/Proven LS Players: These are people who have shown they know the game, they have gear no matter how they attained it. They basically are the cornerstone of what people should try and accomplish.

5. Rebel/Indifference/tl:dr personalities: These are people who rarely ever post on the forums but rather play the game and not care about any social aspect of the forum and sometimes even people don't care about trading. Few of people with this personality are legends of the game. Example would be Wigwam. He rarely posts in the public realm, he focuses on the game very well, always looking to improve the way he plays. And although he doesn't share a lot of his ideas to the public, he is soft spoken but his words are very kind and usually promote people to play the game to figure out a style to work for him.

6. Narcissistic/Rebel #2/Self-Asorbed/Extremely Logical Biased: These are people who few like on the forums, they come off sometimes as radical because they radically impose the logistics of ls and mostly criticize people for their wrongs in the attempt of trying to help them. They show you the error of your ways, and may or not tell you the solution. Rebel#2 simply means that these people do not fall in the indifference category, but rather they know they are different and believe they are superior and cannot believe some people do not understand this game even after they have played it for a while. It goes for both sides of the coin though, there are some in this category that are completely illogical and stupid and have no clue of how the game mechanics work and always shame themselves in their play and on the forums.

Please keep these concepts in mind when talking to people.

I think it would be unfair for me to judge you alone. I think committee from each respective category would be the best bet.

However, I think you fall into #1 and #2 category. From what I have seen on the forums you seem to play the game but still posts some ideas, so that puts you in the state of an idealist
.

Sounds somewhat accurate, until I post some of my data I've been collecting that is :)
