min base defense should be higher on these armor's since

Padded Robe / Scale Armor / Plate Mail

got higher base max defense

Probably but I do hope casting still gives the bonus it deserve. If casting and melee with same EE does the same damage, than melee wins. No use the burn mana while a melee weapon does the same damage without losing a single mana.

Glad my armor on HC didn't got sold vs 19 fg :D

a thought I had was that this new system would encourage everyone to be a hybrid melee/caster
use your charm if you notice high monster PhysDef
use your weapon otherwise

but njag said this change wasn't that big a deal so I'm hoping it's not the scenario I proposed

More like a subtle way to push catacombs on people.. Like ragnaroks said, casting with damage would be pretty well pointless..

Rather keep it to "magic/casting re-balance". But a (small) disadvantage is most likely to happen though.

Whatever the update may be, even if casting gets nerfed, there will still be other options and builds out there to level up. Hybrid is actually very nice to be honest, as well catacombs.

What a shame is, that sometimes an update can ruin the LS items/stats/economy so hard making them near useless/usefull.

seems like 1.18 will increase the value of ee armors
