My 2 cents:

Ladder slasher and jsp are no place for children.
I let mine look at screen when browsing this section, figuring it'd be safe.
Nope, soft porn picture of porn star that the female monk reminded someone of.

And the rudeness and language in catas are exactly what I am trying to steer them away from.
I let them drive my solo catas, and my 6 year old fishes, but /dnd is engaged.

If you are a caster, you have mana. Use it to create dmg as required, but also use it to keep your team mates alive.

Note above my comment -- we had a death. Caster had lots of mana but was any used to heal??:

agree with this.

First thing I did was buy up all the best in game Dex Gear I could get my hands on... ;) Anyway, on to my point below:

I will comment here because yesterday I actually played my first “Pick Up Game” since June of last year (shame on me for playing with friends—nn flames). A few ppl that randomly jumped into the group were doing about 1/5th my damage. (Realize I was upfront by myself as the main tank, healing, and doing high end dmg—did I mention I was also on a mule). The guy asked some elementary questions throughout the climb. I kindly answered and at some points gave advice that he didn’t know to ask yet ;)

Moral of the story: Ironmind reset ladder this week. He is the poster child for LS recruitment here: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=51294798&f=115&o=0
We’re getting in a large amount of ppl revisiting or trying LS out for the first time. If I had 20,000fg and tried a game out for the first time, I sure wouldn’t spend all 20,000fg on my first climb. I’d want to see if I liked the community & liked the game. Once I was “Sold” on this game, then I’d make the investment. As it seems to be accepted to make a smartass comment about Italy’s shape (Not singling you out Amber--I know a ton of ppl that do this and using this as an example) and boot ppl with FG from the game, realize that they could potentially be the guy buying all your gear for sale during his next climb if he liked this game.

Long story short for the TLDR ppl. If you are unhappy with the amount of ppl playing LS, BE NICE & HELPFUL to those you come across in game. Giving 2 minutes of advice could yield IMPROVED & LONG LASTING SLASHERS in the future.

Well here is the thing...YOU DID SINGLE ME OUT..but i really am not bothered. I stated...I HAVE HELPED HUNDREDS on LS. Donations were a bomb for the most part because most of them used
it to buy d2 items. Advice? Yup..I have sat for many hours trying to explain the game mechanics and the mp..showing people links... and so on and so forth. I have put in 3 years of my time here doing that and have come up with very few people who actually stayed around and continued slashing. Imagine the CRAP that paparick has had to deal with...he has been here forever and im sure has pretty much seen it all.

Wouldn't it be great if every time we ran across a new player..they took our advice and went to buy a bit of gear that is DIRT cheap atm??? Most don't or won't, so call me what you will..i have done lots to try and encourage newcomers and been disappointed 99% of the time. Kids come here to make FG...Adults come here to relax and have a good time and know how to manage the game fairly
quickly if they like it. From what i understand and KNOW..ALL the top people on this site have NO QUALMS about kicking newcomers out of the game until they learn the basics..hell till they even learn to read. BTW ...When was the last time YOU took 2 minutes of YOUR time explain the game to anyone???? <_<

Wow did you have an encounter with a Divine being?

Since when were you ever nice to new comers in this game?

Oh well, I guess you've shown us that you are the greatest teacher on LS...A rolling stone gathers no MoS. :D

Oh wise prophet will you be our LS Hero?

I think you guys missed his point.

Anyways, I have taken many slashers under my wing, for what it's worth. I realize I am still new compared to most of you oldies, but that doesn't mean I can't help.

Yes, a few of them simply quit and went on to other things. (D2 or whatever) But, a few actually stuck around, and have turned into some nice honest GM slashers who don't normally get kicked from groups anymore. For that, I am proud, of both them and myself I guess.

I won't simply refuse to play with someone solely on the basis that they did not take the time to read the whole LS portal or the guide collection, a good portion of both is outdated anyways.

I have ALWAYS found it easier to learn by experience rather than by trying to read through a plethora of information. Once you can grasp the basics, then that info is very helpful, but if you have no clue what you are reading what help is that?

Whatev, time for me to go move some snow.

Better question is, when has he not been nice?

Amber, to address your last question, please reread what Nick posted as he gave you an answer to that in his first paragraph.

Amber, I specifically noted for you not to get bent out of shape—I just used your 1 comment as a generic example. I have ppl on my Top Friend’s list who do similar things and I just want to point out the flaws I see in it. @CPE: I’ll let this one slide as you’re just trying to stick up for your guild leader. I can appreciate that & still think well of you Curt. As some of my good friends joined the guild recently, I’d like to be on better terms than b4.

Let me put this more generically. Some key ppl like PapaRick, HylianHero, InsaneBob, Hor_rahl, jlhromeo, etc are leaders. Although I may not always agree with what they say, they make specific & generally well thought out posts and individuals & guilds rally around them. Basically, what I’m trying to say is that the vast majority of ppl that play LS are sheep. They don’t think outside the box to tweak their play, they don’t go out of their way to state opinions publicly to rally support for their cause, and simply “Go with the flow.” When someone (as a guild leader and pillar of their circle of friends) makes a statement that effectively cripples the recruiting efforts for LS, someone needs to step up and say something. What you may not realize is that the sheep of these forums will take this as the newest craze/trend and try it out for themselves. I believe your wording would quickly be plagiarized.

I am not trying to be an LS Savior from my encounter from a divine being as someone once stated, I enjoy(ed) LS and want the game to thrive(again). I am DEEPLY vested in this game with both time/efforts/fg. I don’t want it to fail. I am not scared to step up and say something that may be unpopular and those who like to troll feel free to bash me to make yourself feel better. At the end of the day and whether or not you realize it, you need someone willing to stand up and continue championing this game for our newcomers.

End of my thread steal & now back to Karl & Rick ;)

People really should think about the red bolded part.

I'm pretty certain hella lot of ppl think like that . I wasn't different when i started , i had reached 1k fg for the first time by selling d2 gear.

Then i felt like trying out Ladderslasher but i didn't have any friends that introduced me to it. So i used like 50 Fg for my first climb .. seriously..When you play ladderslasher for the first times it doesnt

seem like the game you wanna invest your Fg in.

I want to be specific here with offering a suggestion and not just criticism to earlier posts. If someone has 20k fg and is wearing 2fg in gear, please ask the person WHY before kicking him. Better understanding, relating, directing these ppl WILL go a long way. Imagine what would happen if we had a recruiting month and landed another HylianHero, Tetsu, Stok3d, Hor_Rahl, Moojisuh, Boss, and Kaspir. What do you think would happen to the market pricing? Do you think the gear being bumped in your threads for days on end would sell with this Lucky 7?

I’ve looked at poker players with over 100k fg using crap gear and about crapped myself when I noticed. You better believe I was bending over backward trying to get these guys to stick and offer w/e assistance I possibly could do. So yeah, DON’T purposely be overly rude and quick to attempt to end the LS career of the rich & poorly geared. This is actually flip flopped of how I believe would best benefit the community. Sell them on the game and you just may be selling them gear in the end (for those who want a direct incentive).
