I heard a great solution in vent today. Change splash casting so it can only be done on chars that are meant to be casters(mage/warlock/alchemist). As far as "foolish" goes.  It's possible for an alchemist to melee, doesn't make it a good idea.

You dont have to play this game. Noone has ever been asked to spend "thousands" of dollars worse of real money on this game. It is your choice. Play the game, don't play the game - just don't troll others and whine like a bitter little person about it.

glass half full doesn't change anything by the way. and the biggest reason many of us still linger here is because we have companions with whom we have shared plenty of good times and laughs with. the second biggest reason is because we are hoping that the "update part 2" will make this game (that we've spent an indecent amount of hours within) as much fun as it used to be.

the reason i quit diablo 2 is because the deeper i got, the less fun it became. it used to be the exact opposite with this game. now i can barely bring myself to launch the game.

I have no qualms about anybody lingering here as long as they don't come in and continue to gripe and be negative. It's getting old, and really boring.

As for you missing the old game - for how many years has this game been around? How often has it changed? How many times has Paul said it will continue to do so. I guess maybe i'm lucky and came in while changes were going on, so it isn't a huge drastic change for me. I certainly don't miss the old LS - I remember Philo trying to get me to play it when I was in AlcoholTM guild. Was so lonely and boring!!  ..yet some of the legends would say that was the best time. It is different for everyone.

I may be newb, but even I know to fear every update now. God knows what's going to be nerfed, and is that 10k I just spent on an item going to now be worth 2k?  God knows.. Paul knows..  :p  Only think we can be certain of is change.

Imo yes. But only mages/wl/alc should be able to splash in general.
