Great ideas and posts for your Competition.

I like a lot of the ideas and had come across a lot of the issues for a competition myself because of the game mechanics and how to make it benefit both Newcomers with zero or hardly any gear and those players with gear. Thus I broke it down, but also had issues.

Thus, I thought about starting a competition based on Prof hunting, just like you previously and wanted to start off with a prize pool of 10,000 forum gold (10k), but I wanted to split it up to make it fair.

Example: It was a +Prof POINT Achievement Competition and broken down by:

Core: Soft & Hard - Thus a participant chooses either core.
... Solo & Group - Thus a participant chooses either Solo or Group.

Here we start off with 10,000 forum gold divided to 5,000 for each core (Soft / Hard)
... Now you divide the 5,000 forum gold for Solo or Group = 2,500 forum gold.

So, 2,500 is divided into the top 3 prizes = 1,000 (1st) ... 850 (2nd) and 650 (3rd) prize.

Still had issues doing the above and came up with one(1) solution, I had to choose one(1) Proficiency type ... Melee, Cast, Heal, or specific skill like Fishing, Cooking or Transmuting etc.

Now with the "ticketing" idea, it is great, it is like playing the lottery, and I would hope that the tickets are designated to specific task... split up the prize pool for certain things... I am not sure how it would work, it makes it harder if each player can participate in multiple things... like my example, Core / Solo or Hardcore this or that Prof etc.

Not raining on your parade for a comp... to be honest, you could make it yearly while interchanging (as long as kept up with uptdates) ... this one could be based on a single core ... Hardcore or Softcore and the achievement(s) ... since the update of 8 characters maximum for each core and so on.

The issue is me proving whether or not someone followed any rules of solo/group. Also, a lot of players will do both. The player with the MOST prof last time is mostly a solo player, so it's more about the time put in rather than anything else.
Finally i dont wish to split rewards by core. I doubt people will change cores for a flimsy reward of upto 1.5k and I see no reason to reward the fact there is less HC players so they'd have better odds per person.

To make it more new player friendly 2 things need to happen:
1. PM any new players to say hey, you should get involved, this was probably the biggest issue from last year of not getting enough new guys involved by actually speaking to them
2. Make the requirements easier to reach. Last time it was 15000 which a reasonable number of even the veterans didn't achieve due to how busy a lot of people are these days.
Another thing i could do is just make the rewards better for that category.
As mentioned, doing a lottery giving an amount of tickets based on your placement will still give better winning odds to those in lower places. As in theory even someone in last place can win the maximum prize.

Great response, and I understand your plight, so instead of responding to everything you posted, I can only reply to what has been highlighted in your post.

Lottery... yes, a good idea so how many tickets are distributed per achievement? ... I personally would say 1 ticket per person that achieved the Objective.

Now, however there should be a limitation that can be achieved either Solo or Group ... as an example; 1 ticket is given to ANY player that has "encountered 4 corners" (solo or Group) ... however, any and all other objectives beyond this does not apply to get a ticket (Solo or Group)! Note; a solo player can activate NMNM now, but will never be able to if they solo from level 1 to Master Quest.

Maybe you have a ticket given to the player that completes certain objectives, and only based on Solo requirement objectives, thus giving each participant the same amount of tickets whether they play solo or group... you may want to limit 1 or 2 characters per username throughout the duration of 24 days from start. Most players will have the SAME amount of tickets based on the maximum Objectives collected for said character either solo or in a group ... and yes, for a group it would be faster to complete, but, they don't get any more tickets compared to a beginner etc?

Just an idea... check out the "Objectives" that can be done "Solo" and give a ticket for completing said Objectives that equate to solo playing... now that is as fair as I can see for a beginner and older players with gear.

How about this idea for a Competition for Softcore:

The first group using "Feeder" classes ONLY and complete the objective "Mirror Maze"?

How are the ideas coming?

I had revisited and revised one of my ideas, but I realized people could cheat it also. Posted it in Kirby chat based off of IZZI my bufcore character not in use.

Not sure myself... I would add in that the Feeder Class chosen has not done a MQ at all, don't need re-rolled characters with cheaper Ability costs (reducing penalty like using Multi Strike etc)

In short it's almost certainly prof again as the main theme over Dec 1st through until Dec 23. Gives me a day to then tally out results then send out rewards on 25th.

However, i'm also looking to do a 1-2 day event for item finding.
How well i'll be able to monitor people who try and reroll items time will tell, but seeing this time i'm probably either doing a raffle style prize or top 10, the reward for winning wont even remotely cover the cost of the essences.

If you have any comments on the above, you've got about a day or two to say them, don't worry about any cheats, i've got a reasonable plan of action for that.
Just interested in how long would you like it to go on for? 2 days is an absolute maximum and ideally a weekend. anything under 24 hours seems too little time. But i'm undecided at the moment on how long. One of the rules is likely to be you can only use 1 character for the duration of the event. which makes me think 24 hours is the correct amount so people can go back to do other things.

This is also last chance to post on a preferred reward system. As mentioned either top 10 or a raffle of 3 larger prizes, but getting a better rank only increases your odds of winning.

I will make the post within the next 5 days or so on how to enter and rules

Thanks for info.

I had another Prof gain idea, but this one is extremely hard, and most assuredly is only beneficial for players that have more time on their hands to play.

You have to have gained Five(5) times more prof points minimum compared to your Monster Kills.

E.G 5,000 Monster Kills and total of 25,000+ Prof points (Melee or Cast &/or Healing)

This does NOT revolve around Skills.

This can only be done Solo, and people with the best gear have to slow down their killing pace drastically.

EDIT: This is my Bufcore character Prof Count & Monster Kills

Club = 485 + 3,000 (Rank 2)
Longsword = 2,811 + 3,000 (Rank 2)
Warhammer = 1,778 + 1,000 (Rank 1)
Battleaxe = 59 + 21,000 (Rank 7)
Spear = 4,980 + 15,000 (Rank 6)
Polearm = 210 + 1,000 (Rank 1)
Wild Heal = 1,116 + 1,000 (Rank 1)
Heal = 1,099 + 15,000 (Rank 6)
Focus = 288 + 6,000 (Rank 3)

78,826 Total Prof Points
35,400 Total Monster Kills

7 Total Master Quests. (I was lucky to Fail all 7 attempts and stayed a Guardian)

Only 2x Prof per monster kill, however, I know how to improve that to 4x if not more.

My previous calculations were way off for the "Total Prof Points" gained vs the "Total Monster Kills", the "Total Prof Point" gain is a lot higher.

This is a formula sent me, which I posted in Kirby Chat:

Quote
Thought about it:

(1000 prof)[(rank 1 + rank n)/2]n

Where n is 0% into the prof rank you want to find total prof for

For example:

Rank 7 would be:
1000[(1+7)/2]*7 = 28,000 just as added out above.
Lmk if you find any errors with that formula but I tested it on a few and seems like it will always work :)

Guess I prefer a top 10, because a raffle of 3 prizes seems too random (depending on how exactly your rank increases your odds of winning)

Maybe you can do a mix of both? Top 10 gets rewarded most of the pool and there's 1 or 2 raffle draws that work with that ticket system and anyone can be chosen.
