It was a Gigapede that hit for 300+ with non crit attacks, took some 700+ crits from it. His ability fired 3 rounds in a row. Welling items higher than your level is never an issue if you have good gear :P
I was wearing this one:
Mythical coral scale armor
Level Req: 30
Physical Defense: 35 to 140
Magical Defense: 23 to 69
+106% Enhanced Effect
+890 Max Life
+8 Magic Luck
+1 to 48 Life per Kill
+4% Life Steal
Thanks, this makes sense then (Multiple attacks) while Monster spawn equivalent to Evil Presences level 40+ vs lower level characters welling in a group.
Multiple attack monster abilities can be a biatche, so this is my preference when I solo.
#1 Gigabee
#2 Slugslider
#3 Glazier (Ice-sickle Attack (physical + ice) - Necrotic Ice Breath (multi-target)
#4 Any other Multiple Cast types like Gigapede: Gigagashing (multiple attacks)
#5 Peaktrice (Partial Paralyze Attack (physical)) & Freaver (Freezing Scythe Strike (physical) (slow))
Peaktrice and Freaver are not a problem if none of the multi attack monsters appear... for me as solo, or solo welling... take out the "Call for help first" type monsters (forgot to put in the flower, but then you only need to keep their hit points above 50% and leave them for last). then comes the Multi attack ability monsters... they are a pain especially if they are caster type when you are Barb/Fighter/Guardian/Samurai/Paladin using Heavy armors.
As for Scales, they take consistent damage either Physical or Magical, and your armor even though as great as it is, could have died if the multiple attacks from Gigapede was concentrated on your character.
Again...
I am only assuming... I don't know the base vitality or intelligence of both of your characters in that instance.
