what exactly does 'maximum room size' do??? or more precisely, wtf is a 'room' does that just mean an area in the maze with no walls ?? like a 'pocket' of open space where u can move freely with no walls?? if thats the case, it just helps a little bit to explore without getting deadends?
You practically answered your question:
Room = an area without Walls
You can look at it this way also;
A tile is the location that you can move from / to as long as there are no Walls, so, when you move onto a tile that has no Walls, that is a Room. The size of the room varies based on the tiles that don't have walls.
Don't quote me on the following, the size of a Room(s) is allocated when entering (creating) a catacomb / map. Any +Min/Max Room size is then calculated.
Minimum Room size could be 1 tile or 4 tiles (which I have no clue), so with +100% minimum room size, then the tiles would be either 2 or 8.
Above is just a theory... I believe it is viable though.
EDIT: forgot to add why it is good to have rooms when exploring. Less time spent on backtracking the maze (catacomb or map) when you are either hunting for maps (clearing catacomb) or hunting items and chests while doing maps.
Less actions turning during a catacomb means less monster spawns while backtracking through a catacomb... that is why I like maps also... go over explored areas without encountering monsters so you can clear it when you have to backtrack 60% of the map.
Solo Hint: if you are under level 71 and you have to backtrack 40% or more in a catacomb with NO ROOMS, use the /set easy 1 command so you only get 1-2 normal monster spawn per tile (explored), and when you get back to unexplored area... use /set easy 0 command to increase the number of monster spawn again.
